User re-submitting form - better way?

Morning all,

I’m collecting data from users via forms ( x 3).

If a user wants to change the data, and therefore re-submit the form I’m trying to understand how this affects the data in hubspot.

Does the data overwrite what is already in the fields in the contact record or add to it? (I’ve set some customised fields)

Does it list as a new submission on the forms page?

I need it to be a clear audit trail of when and what was submitted and don’t want to lose anything along the way :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks in advance for your wisdom,

Mandy

Hi @widgit , when a form is submitted exsiting properties are updated and new values are added (if non-existing).

The submission action will be added to the timeline.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for responding Catarina,

Can I ask for clarity on updated?

That is, if they’ve responded before with A,B,C and then fill in the form again with D, E - will the property reflect all submissions as in A,B,C,D,E or just D,E?

Thanks

Mandy

@widgit see if understood:

- Form submissions - you will have information in the contact timeline of all the submissions done, so if different values, you will see the diferrent submissions with values changed

- Record property - will store the last value added in the submission (unless we are talking about, for example, a multiple check-box, this will append the value)

You can always access the record’d property history: View a record's property history
