Filtering reports using association labels

Greetings,

We opted into the beta for applying association labels between objects (e.g. Decision Maker, Advocate, etc. when associating Contacts to Deals).

I’m wondering if there’s a way to leverage these assocation labels in reporting as a filter; for our specific use case, we’re trying to get a high-level overview of how many Closed-Won Deals are affected by non-company references. We’ve already added “Reference” as a label, but would love to be able to filter for contacts who have that label.

If unavailable now, would love to know whether or not its planned as part of the full launch of the association label feature in the future.

Thank you!

Yes please, this would be a great feature.

Hi @GEiselt,

Association labels are not supported for use in custom reports, see here. However, in some scenarios you can work around this by filtering your report by a contact list, as contact lists allow you to filter for labels:

You can find the instructions here: Create and use association labels

Hope this helps!

Please see the comments below - I don’t think this is solved b/c can not use in reports and also can’t add this to list views. So if I am viewing a customer and look at the contacts association card on the right - it will show me (in random order unless you can help there too) 3-4 contacts. So I may see Contact A with Association ‘Lead Architect’ | Contact B with Association ‘Primary Contact’ | Contact C who has no association and then a link to show the rest of the contacts. But if I click the link - I now have no way of showing the Association Lables so how do I know what ‘type’ of contact they are?

I noticed we have the ability to include the association labels in custom reports now. Does this forgo the need to use the list membership workaround?

Karsten,

Appreciate the idea! That actually should work in a pinch for us as we can then use the list membership as a filter on the report section as well.

Thanks again,

Greg

Happy to help!

This seems like a viable ‘work around’ but for long-term solution the Association Labels should be treated as all other properties and available for use in Workflows, Reports, etc. without the need to first create a ‘list’ which is really a Marketing actitivity not sales or services activity. So how would I identify all companies that do not have a primary contact defined?

The work around would work for contacts but we are using the association labels to identify roles on a deal that are separate from the main client contacts such as Architects or Project Managers or Quantity Surveyors.

We then want to list all the deals where an Architect (for example) hasn’t been associated. These association labels definitely need to be reportable fields to be useful on deals.

We need this feature.

If a cross-object report shows both deals and contacts, I would like the association label between the deal and the contact to be a column on the report.

To ensure partner contacts are kept out of workflows, we need to ensure all partner contacts on deals are labelled. I need a way to check there is a labelled partner contact on every deal. At the moment the only way for me to check this is to go into each deal individually (very tedius and time consuming).

We desperately need association labels to be managed similarly to properties. This would allow us to use them in workflows effectively and filter them without weird workarounds. We are super excited about the new association labels, but the lack of automation and basic abilities make them near impossible for us to use.

I agree. We’ve had lots of options for grouping together contacts who share a certain trait in relation to ANY deal of theirs. The new feature we need is a way to see which traits they have in relation to which deals all in once place. If a contact is a seller on 3 deals and a buyer on 7 others, I could always have used a custom property or a list to designate that this person is a seller and a buyer. What I still can’t do that would be very useful is pull a report showing me in one place the names of all the person’s deals and which role they play on each deal.

I’d love to have this feature available as well!

Thanks for your feedback, @alwinpianka!

I would encourage you to upvote and subscribe to the ideas linked in @TitiCuisset’s reply to show support for this product suggestion:

Yes please need this feature and the ability to assign associations via workflows, otherwise it’s a manual process and very tedious.

Use of association labels in reports has been SOLVED. Here is a screencast I made to help anyone looking to add important association labels to their reports: Association Labels in Reports - 12/6/2022, 9:03:16 AM

Is it possible to report on association labels? I need all contacts from partner companies (specific companies) on a deal to have a ‘partner’ association label. If I run a custom report displaying all deals and associated contacts and companies - I can’t see if the contacts from partner companies all have the label. Is there a way to view this?
