Is it possible to create a task on a ticket in the Helpdesk?

Unfortunately I don’t believe so. You have to click through to the Ticket record (the hyperlinked ticket name at the top of the screen) and add a task there.
It might be worth adding this to the Idea forum. This is where HubSpot go to get product/feature update ideas. If you do add it let me know and I will upvote it.
