My organisation has a free Hubspot account with one core user seat. The current core user is stepping down and I am taking over. The marketing contacts list is owned by the current core user, and I am a contact in this list, with my personal email address. I now have an organisational email address as well, and the current core user has created me as a new user with my organisational email address. However, this new account does not show up in the marketing contacts list. Should my new organisational email address instead be added to my account in the marketing contacts list, and then this account be assigned the core user seat? Or will it be ok being the core user despite not being present in the marketing contacts list? I am also wondering if the current core user should re-assign ownership of the marketing contacts list to myself before the seat is transferred? Many thanks.

This – there is no relationship worth mentioning between a contact record, its marketing contact status, a user, their seat and their permissions.
What matters if the current core user is stepping down is the following: You need to make sure that you inherit the super admin permissions along with the core seat. HubSpot user permissions guide
As a super admin, you can then change contact ownership and also marketing contact status – but most importantly, you can access all available functionalities within the HubSpot portal.
Thank you very much for your reply. At the moment the current core user is unable to transfer super admin permissions to me before transferring core seat ownership. On the page to choose user access, ‘Make Super Admin’ is greyed out, and hovering over it says “This user needs a core seat to become a super admin”, but our free account has only one core seat. Will super admin status transfer automatically to me on transferring the core seat, or must I do this separately afterwards? Many thanks.
