As of now, whenever I close a client, the close date attribute gets updated. So far so good. However, when one of this clients churns, the same date attribute gets updated and I no longer have access to the date the deal entered the “Won” stage. The information is still available within the deal feed, but I could not manege to use it for reports. Seems like an easy fix, but I still cant figure it out
Hi @Thomas_Carlsen,
Thank you for your inquiry.
Looking into it, I can confirm that the property “Close date” can be updated to the date when the deal record was moved to the deal stage of ‘Closed Cancelled’.
That being said, the property “Close date” is a property that will be updated automatically by the HubSpot system whenever a deal record is moved to a deal stage that is either a ‘Won’ or ‘Lost’ stage which is mentioned in this Knowledge Base article: HubSpot’s default deal properties and this is something that cannot be prevented.
If you would like to retain the ‘Closed date’ that was populated when it was moved to the ‘Won’ stage, what I will recommend here is that you create a custom property to store this value that will be populated automatically into the “Close date” property via a workflow.
This way you can know exactly which close date it is referring to and will not ‘lose’ the details.
Hope this helps,
Diana
Thomas - I’m curious as to your path why a deal post-closed won would churn. You wouldn’t want to unrecognize that revenue on your books from the existing deal. The revenue for that deal would be recognized and the deal would be won. If they are not continuing that contract, I would think that to be a deal in a renewal pipeline that is closed lost - churn because that was an active customer in a pipeline that is no longer going to remain a customer. You could then capture this closed lost churn date on the company object in addition to when their closed won deal took place eventually leading their LTV value.
