Additional Core Seats

I’m a solopreneur and do not have a team. Yet I saw in my billing today I pay for 3 additional core seats. Do I really need to pay for these if I’m the only one using the software?

Hi @JMullen8,

If you’re the only user, you don’t need more than one core seat. Go ahead and remove them :slightly_smiling_face: Assign and manage seats

Best regards

Great, thank you!

@JMullen8 Short answer: no—you don’t need to keep (or pay for) three extra Core Seats if you’re the only one in the portal. HubSpot just defaults to a certain seat count when a subscription is first set up; you can reduce it in two steps.

  1. Remove or unassign the unused seats: Settings → Users & Teams → look for any “empty” users or users marked as having a paid core seat. Either delete those users or click the dropdown and un-assign the seat. (If you’re truly solo you should end up with just your own user listed, holding one Core Seat.)
  2. Shrink the seat count in billing: Settings → Account & Billing → Products & Add-ons → Manage seats. Drop “Quantity” from 4 down to 1 and save. HubSpot pro-rates the difference on your next invoice. If the UI won’t let you edit (older contracts sometimes lock that field) open a chat ticket or call support—they can issue a seat-count amendment in two minutes.

Double-check after the change: Billing should now show 1 of 1 Core Seats in use, and your next cycle will charge only for that single seat.

Hope that clears it up.
