Hello, everyone! On the free versions of sales and marketing and on a WordPress site installation, I can only see SOME page views from a certain contact who was added 12–13 months ago. But contacts added in the last two days don’t show any web visit activity, even though I can see when their tracked emails are opened and when they click on links in those emails. Does this make sense? And if not, what could be wrong?
Generally, it wouldn’t be unusual that you see email activity from contacts but no page view activity and to have contacts where this information is available and some where it isn’t. Here’s why:
Marketing email tracking does not require cookies, HubSpot tracks marketing email opens via images that are loaded and unique tracking links which are clicked. Page views on the other hand rely on cookies. It’s perfectly normal that a contact has one but not the other.
Page views require that HubSpot cookies are accepted and that a contact has either clicked through a HubSpot email in that browser or submitted a form. Some contacts might have done this, some might not have.
This isn’t to say that everything is working fine, just to provide context. You should be concerned if you don’t see any page view activity on any new contact, but not if we’re talking about a segment.
@karstenkoehler This is an old post but I thought I’d use it for a similar question that’s related. I have some existing contacts that are not recording a visit to a HubSpot page that are coming from another marketing application. In that application, I see they clicked on a CTA that resulted in landing on the HubSpot page. Although they did not fill out a form, the emails for these individuals are the same in both applications. The contacts have existed in HubSpot for a while and were not newly created at the time of the landing page visit.
Why would these not be recorded? Would using a different browser cause this? Any other reasons?
