I set up a temporary site on Carrd for my domain. I’ve since removed the A records and set them to point here. The page urls render OK, but the root domain gives the error below.
Can anyone advise me how to fix this? I’ve checked settings here, in Carrd and in my host Siteground. But can’t find the rogue setting.
A URL mapping is currently redirecting “http://extraordinaryemail.com” to “https://extraordinaryemail.carrd.co/?hsDisableHttpsRedirect=true&hsSkipUrlMappingCache=true”. Consider editing this URL mapping to make it more targeted, or setting it to be ignored if a page exists at the requested URL.
Hi @MartyBrack,
Thank you for your inquiry.
I’d like to involve some of our experts in the conversation to review whether they have any suggestions for you or if they have encountered a similar case in their experience and how they resolved it.
Hi @tverdokhlib1, @Jigar_Thakker, @TomM2.Do any of you happen to have any suggestions for resolving this behavior?
Thank you all for your contributions.
Best regards,
Diana
Hey @MartyBrack if you are not pointing your A Record/Root domain to HubSpot, url mappings in HubSpot won’t have any affect on this domain, you’d need to set up a redirect through your DNS provider/Where you manage your domain from.
I do have the A records pointing to Hubspot. The pages I’ve created show up no problem. it’s just the root domain that has a hidden redirect.
I’ve been in touch with Siteground, Carrd and now here and no one has been able to work out how to fix this bizarre phantom redirection.
Hey @MartyBrack are you able to share the domain itself so I can take a look into the settings?
Hey Tom, thanks for taking a look. The domain is in the original post, but I’ve included it below for quick reference.
Let me give you more detail that seems to confirm the issue lies with Hubspot.
Today, I removed the Hubspot servers from the DNS records, reverted to Siteground hosting and the redirect disappeared.
I took the domain offline, disconnected it from Hubspot, took it online again.
Then I added the Hubspot servers back to the DNS and reconnected it and voila! it redirects the root domain again.
Here’s a screenshot showing the Hubspot servers and the redirect content.
Checking in GTMetrix, the header shows the redirect clearly: from https://extraordinaryemail.com to https://extraordinaryenail.carrd.co/
It’s got me running in circles! So any light you can shine would be greatly appreciated.
Here’s what I see as the only way forward. I’ve gone ahead and removed he domain I want to use from Hubspot and assigned my website to another one I have. This has gone as expected without any mapping issues or error messages. I will now wait a few days in the hope that any caches Hubspot was locked into for my domain will clear. Then I will revert to using my chosen domain and keep my fingers crossed!
