HubSpot will not recognize a Word doc in a link when uploaded to the File Manager, only PDFs. Keep getting “Untitled” blank popups

Where/when exactly are you getting the pop up? Are you able to successfully upload the file into the file manager? If not, what exactly do you see after the upload attempt, can you share a screenshot? What’s the file name? If the upload is successful, can you please share the link?

I uploaded a Word document to the File Manager. I tried to link the
document to wording in my email. All of that works, upload is fine,
assigning the link from a file is fine. When the link is accessed from the
email, it goes to an “UNTITLED” about-blank tab.
I can upload a PDF the same way and when I click on the link from the
email, it takes me to the PDF.
@PHolland3 can you share the link? What is the file name? Are you sure that by clicking the link the file is not automatically downloaded? (Browsers don’t preview docx.)

HubSpot lets you upload Word documents without any problem, but the issue actually comes from how web browsers handle them. Unlike PDFs, most browsers can’t open Word files directly. So when someone clicks on your Word doc link in an email, instead of opening nicely, it just shows a blank or “Untitled” tab.
You can upload the word document to a platform like Google Drive, set it to “Anyone with the link can view/download,” and then use that share link in your email.
or you can upload the Word document into Google Docs. It automatically converts it to a browser-friendly format, and you can then share a view-only link easily.
or lastly you are left with the option in your email you put a CTA like “Download Now” or “Get the File” so users expect the download behavior instead of thinking it will open on the page.

links worked fine, even for someone without a Google account!
