Link to document in follow-up e-mail

Hi there

How can I insert [a link to] a document from Sales > Documents into a follow-up e-mail in Marketing > Forms?

I’ve created a form to request my ebook. In the follow-up e-mail I’d like to thank/answer submitted requests with a link to the document.

Is it possible?

Thanks!

Hi @slecluyse,

Sales documents are meant o be used in the sales process. They have a document viewer and do not link directly to the file itself. For content to be used in marketing, it’s recommended to upload the file in the file manager: Upload files to use in your HubSpot content

Best regards!

Hello Kartsen

So what’s the difference in uploading the file to my own website instead of HubSpot? What are the advantages? Moreover, with Documents in HubSpot I can trace who has viewed the document.

And can you easily put links to HubSpot files in follow-up e-mails? There is a link button but you have to put in the url manually. Too bad that there isn’t personalisation possible in follow-up e-mails.

Finally, I don’t haveMarketing > Files and Templates in my currently free edition.

cheers

Steven

Hi @slecluyse,

The file manager should be available in all products and plans. @TitiCuisset, would you mind assisting here? I just checked in a free portal and the file manager isn’t there. According to the documentation, it should be?
Update: “If you’re using HubSpot’s free tools, navigate to Marketing > Email. In the left sidebar menu, click the More tools dropdown menu, then select Files.”

@slecluyse, uploading your file to your own website would work as well, any static link really. When you upload a file under Sales > Documents, people opening the link would have to re-enter their email address. It’s simply not a very nice user experience, considering that you already have the email address of these users. (Why ask for it again.) You can easily see who viewed the file in marketing email analytics and on the contact record anyway.

Best regards!

Hi @slecluyse

Thank you for pinging @karstenkoehler !

So according to the subscription you have (free, starter, ou above) the steps to access the File Manager are not the same.

For a free account, you’ll need to navigate to Marketing > Email. In the left sidebar menu, click the More tools dropdown menu, then select Files.

Hope that helps.
Have a lovely day,
Tiphaine.

Ha, missed that. Thanks @TitiCuisset!
