Sync with Shopify

Hi. When I set up the sync with Shopify and Hubspot back in November, it worked seamlessly with all of our orders being entered as deals. Then it suddenly stopped syncing on December 1. So I re-synced it in January but all of the orders from Shopify are showing up as “Orders” in Hubspot instead of under “Deals.” I can’t figure out how to fix this, and it’s messing with the whole system that we have set up for keeping track of things for our company. Is there a way to re-program the sync features so the orders from Shopify are again categorized as “Deals” in Hubspot as they were when I first set up in the sync in November of 2023? Please help!

Hi @LABGomez,
I love to read this question, thank you for asking the Community!
I understand that you are using the native “Shopify” HubSpot integration.
I’d like to share this similar post from my colleague @PamCotton on this post “Shopify Integration - No transfer of orders (deals)”.
The first troubleshooting step is always to try reinstalling - it could be that the connection was interrupted and needs to be reconnected.
When you say that you “re-synced”, do you mean reinstalling, please?
I’d be happy to put you in touch with some of our Community Members who also use this integration to have their feedback: Hi @KatieGood, @MiCiShiBi and @JStyen, can you please share what your experience is regarding this to help @LABGomez, please?
I also would like to invite to this conversation our Top Experts: Hi @Bryantworks, @himanshurauthan and @johnelmer do you have suggestions to help @LABGomez, please?
If anybody else has anything to add and/or share, please feel free to join in the conversation

Hi there,

Thanks for the update. Why did HubSpot not fix the issue and problem that has been known for many years - the Shopify ‘order sync’ does not bring in the sku into HubSpot.

I cannot believe that I cannot bring in the SKU from Shopify into HubSpot. It will allow me to link my orders to my product database in HubSpot. That would have been an easy fix in the new sync protocol for orders, right?

Can you let me know what the thinking is? Is there a fix?

Hi @KMastenbroek,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community!
Sorry for the delayed response.
When looking at the documentation “Shopify” here, I can see that indeed under “Orders” you cannot, but under “Products” you can map the “SKU” property with the default field mapping.
Please let me know if that’s not what you were looking for?
Thanks and have a nice day!
Best,
Bérangère

Hi @KMastenbroek

The Shopify Native integration can indeed bring the SKU onto the product object. It’s enabled by default.

What most people miss though, is that the Shopify Native integration doesn’t bring in Product Variants from Shopify. Each variant in Shopify has a SKU and that needs to also be mapped into HubSpot.
Our integration, Shopify Sync by Unific, does bring variants into HubSpot and by default maps Variant SKU and Product SKU for the products as well as the line items.
Also, still Unific allows you to sync Orders as Deals into HubSpot.

Hey @PJagdale thank you for sharing your integration with us.

Kindly,

Pam

We put together a helpful Unific vs Shopify Native integration page so you know exactly how they differ. TLDR: We know what gaps exist in HubSpot for the Ecommerce customer.

Yes. I re-installed and then resycned to update it. When I did that, it uploaded all the orders from Shopify as “Orders” in Hubspot rather than “Deals” as they had been previously. I just want to know how to fix that. Thanks.

Hi @LABGomez, I hope that you are well!
Thank you for the additional information!
I checked for you and I could see that if you installed the integration after Dec. 2nd, Shopify Orders will automatically sync to Orders in HubSpot by default.
Here is the article about it: “Connect HubSpot and Shopify”.
If you’re installing the Shopify integration after December 2, 2023, you should instead refer to this article “Connect HubSpot and Shopify (Data Sync)” for the steps to install the integration.

The new integration syncs order records to order records. It’s not possible to sync them to deal records as an alternative.

If the idea doesn’t exist already, please consider posting and creating a new Idea on our Ideas Forum here.
Otherwise, you would have to use a different integration for this.
Hi @Bryantworks, @himanshurauthan and @johnelmer do you know of other integrations that would make it possible to have orders sync with deals to help @LABGomez, please?
Thank you very much  and have a great day!

Hi @LABGomez ,
With the launch of the new integration, HubSpot has introduced two new objects, Orders and Carts, and the old integration seems to be discontinued (businesses already using it can still use it ).As you have uninstalled the old one and installed the new one, it is now syncing to the Order and Cart objects. You can achieve almost everything that you were doing with the deals setup in the e-commerce pipeline by using Order and Cart objects.
You can reach out to us if you want the old functionality. I hope this helps.
Best,
Himanshu

I would love the old functionality where it syncs to deals.

It sounds frustrating that the sync between Shopify and HubSpot isn’t working like it did before! I had a similar issue with my own setup a while back. When I first integrated them, everything flowed perfectly, but then it got messy, too. What helped me was reaching out to Refined Commerce for advice. They walked me through checking the integration settings in both platforms. Sometimes, it’s as simple as needing to adjust the mapping settings to ensure orders show up as “Deals.” I found that updating the API keys or refreshing the connection can also solve these syncing issues. If you haven’t already, it might be worth checking HubSpot’s integration settings or even reaching out to their support for a hand.

@Mursanello @BérangèreL @LABGomez I share your frustration in the management of this Shopify integration. In addition to the sync changes, HubSpot released the new objects without fully finishing them, which I will not get into detail in this thread. Regarding the issue you’re experiencing, if you haven’t already resolved this, you could try setting up a workflow that is triggered by the order object being created, and create branches to map all of the required fields to a deal. Hope this helps.

thanks for the workaround idea, my question: by doing so, what will happen with total sales amount should the orders converted in deals duplicate the amount? kind regards

It depends on what data your ‘total sales’ property is referencing. I would test a single example in your case and see what happens with your configuration. Worst case, you could create a new custom calculation property and build custom reports with the new property if needed.

thanks

As mentioned previously, the Shopify Native integration forces everyone to sync Shopify Orders to the new HubSpot Orders Object and Shopify Checkouts to the HubSpot Carts object.

While this is a good idea, it frustrated many people since the Deals object is much more advanced in HubSpot than the new Orders and Cart Objects. Not only that, you can easily create a funnel report of conversion rate of an checkout turning into a completed order all on a single object with the way it used to work. Lastly, email revenue attribution is not possible with the new Order Object from HubSpot like it is for Deals.

Our integration, Shopify Sync by Unific still allows you to sync Orders as Deals and Checkouts as Deals. So you can get all the advantages of using the Deal out of the box mentioned above.

Happy to help and chat through this as I know it is a very sensitive topic.
