Super Admin can't edit access and permissions

Hi all,

I’ve recently been granted super user admin rights and am no longer able to edit user permissions. The CRM bit is greyed out, I can view all the perms but everytime I looked to edit them I’m just given a guide to edit them.

What am I missing?

Hi @MNar,

The dropdown just lets you see (not edit) which permissions are currently granted. It’s a bit odd you can’t choose from the dropdown but if you were able to, it wouldn’t let you edit permissions anyway.

What happens when you click “Edit permissions” to the right?

Best regards

Hi, no worries at all.

This is what happens when I try to edit. I can see all the granted perms, and it lets me select how I want to give perms to the user, but still no way to actually edit them.

Hi @MNar,

Your screenshot doesn’t actually show that – it looks like you’re able to change permissions by clicking “Manually assign permissions” in the top right corner?

Best regards

Yep and when I click on manually assign perms, it lets me click ‘save’ and then it says ‘success, you have updated access for the user’ without the option to update anything. I assume maybe this is an issue to take to custoemr success?

Hi @MNar,

It’s hard to say without seeing the entire screen that you’re seeing. Can you please share a screenshot that shows all your options, not just a small section?

See below the sequence I get:

Hi @MNar,

Are you trying to edit permissions of a user who has super admin rights? If so, you first need to remove them (in the user table, hover your mouse over the user, click Actions > Remove super admin).

You can’t “trim” permissions of a user while they’re a super admin, that would be contradictory.

That makes sense, however I’m trying to add a permission because although the user is a super user, it says they do not have access to edit emails in marketing. the reason I want to be able to do this is so the user can unbounce a contact which they can’t do right now. The reason for unbounce is because there’s no correct email address for the prospect and they need to be added to a ‘linkedin only’ sequence, but HS is not allowing this because the contact is in a ‘bounced’ state.

I’m a little confused as to why all these limits still exist if the user is a super user

Hi @MNar,

If someone is a super admin, they have permissions to do everything in your portal, except for a few billing related things.

If they can’t unbounce a contact, no super admin can. Removing a hard bounce from a contact requires a Marketing or CMs Hub Professional subscription: Send emails to contacts who previously bounced

Without this subscription, the limitation you’re running into is not a permission issue. It’s because this feature is not part of your subscription bundle. (Whether that should be the case is up for debate, 100%. Don’t shoot the messenger.)

Best regards

Hi @karstenkoehler thanks for helping me figure it out! Indeed, considering we have Sals Professional and I’m looking to re-add a bounced contact into a sequence and not into Marketing it’s a little frustrating but at least I know now.

Best,

Milda

Hi Karsten, you seem to be the Super Helper for HS issues. I have a similar issue, my Super Admin rights are greyed out and prevent me from changing permissions. I tried to clear cache, different browers but no luck.

I like to install MS Teams into HS but I don’t get passed the Super Admin issue.

I am a sole trader, so when I set this account up, it’s only me and a secondary email user (I can see the rights, but permissions are greyed out).

What do I miss?

Cheers, Seb
