Storing Monthly Mobile App Data

Hi,

We have a mobile app that captures data using the sensors within a mobile device.

Based on that data during a monthly time frame a customer may or may not qualify for incentives/discounts/credits.

Additionally, there is some really cool data that we can use to send monthly, quarterly and annual communications to our customers (think Spotify Wrapped type data - not music though!).

I want to store this data within the contact record (syncing from our datamart), and am trying to think of the best way to do this, ensuring we have a monthly view on display within the record.

Is there a way, and a good way to do this?

TIA

Simon

Hey Simon,

how often should the data be synchronized?

If this should only be done sporadically, then…

You can simply import the data and add to the existing data records. To do this, you need the unique identifier from Hubspot, i.e. the contact’s email address, and add the data you want to import to it. You may need to create new properties if they do not yet exist.

If the data is to be synchronized directly, the platforms must communicate with each other. In our example, we automatically pushed data from SAP into Hubspot.

The disadvantage of this can be that the fields are overwritten with data and the history is lost if the value of a property changes.

Hey,

Thanks for the response. The data would be sync’d at least monthly, and we would push the data from our datamart using a reverse ETL, therefore syncing it directly - thats the easy piece.

The hard part, and the bit I need more help with is how to maintain the monthly data in the contact record without overwriting it.

Is there a way to create a table within the contact record, creating custom properties for the data for specific time periods, and pushing the data in that way? Could those custom properties then be used in email campaigns, and also even aggregated when doing a quarterly or annual campaign?
I have a feeling this isnt possible, but wanted to clarify before I start exploring alternate solutions.

Hey,
What kind of information would you like to add?
Can you give an example of a property and different values that should be updated on different days?
If there’s one thing Hubspot is good at, it’s workarounds :slightly_smiling_face:

Hey!
So as an example, we have data on the number of miles someone has traveled in the month, and we want to keep a monthly track of these, and send monthly, then quarterly, and annual emails about their mileage traveled.

OK, keeping continuous information in a property and then using it individually is certainly not the right approach. At best, this could work with a free text field, but then you are not as flexible with the data.
I would simply create a property for each month and then fill it in. That way you are flexible and can also summarize the data as you wish.
