Which field type is best for monthly data entry on a property?

Hello,

Is there a way to use one property to update data on a monthly basis, while keep previous record?

I am creating a form that can be used to update a contact record monthly to track progress of a client undertaking a wellness training. The clients want to track things like weight on a monthly basis. Is this only doable by creating 12 new properties to show progress over a 12 months period, or I can have such a record under one property but update a specific lable or field option?

I would like it to show increase or reduction. For instance,

Weight

Month Weight
Month 1 120
Month 2 105
Month 3 100
Month 4 94

What property can I use to enter suchh data via a form?

Hi @lsyanseke,

A property type for a time series unfortunately doesn’t exist. HubSpot does however store previous values with a time stamp in the background and you can both view and export this information. Simply navigate to the contact record, find the View all properties button in the left sidebar…

… search for your property, hover over it and click Details. Another sidebar with the historic values should pop up.

Historic values cannot be edited anymore, HubSpot is simply keeping a log here. It’s also not possible to create custom reports on these previous values. In reports, HubSpot will only look at the current value. If you ever need this informatoin, you would have to export the property history (see link above).

Let me know if you have any follow-up questions!

This sounds great, can that mean I can generate a seperate report from the exported data?

Just to calrify further, the same property will be updated, while saving the old data right?

Hi @lsyanseke,

You can check this by exporting the property history of any property in your portal already. This will give you a better idea of what you’re working with :slightly_smiling_face:

And yes, when you update a property, HubSpot will keep all old data points.

Best regards!
