Sequence finished early

I have a few sequences that are marked as finished but only sent one email in the sequence. Even if it’s a dynamic sequence why would it be finishing on its own? If the sequence only sent 1 email, is there a way that I can resume the sequence where it “finished” so I don’t send the same email twice?

Hi @dlcdaniel,

Have you checked if the contact has met any of the unenrollment criteria? Unenroll contacts from a sequence

Best regards

Is there a way to check if they hit an unsubscribe button?

@dlcdaniel it would be easiest to check what happened if you opened the sequences (Menu > Sales > Sequences), then, in the “Enrollments” tab search for the contact. The search result should show you when they were enrolled, their engagement, latest steps, status and details.

They just say finished, nothing saying unsubscribed.

@dlcdaniel can you please share a screenshot of the sequence steps?

Hey @dlcdaniel - thanks for posting in the Community!
Would you be able to provide a screenshot, per @karstenkoehler 's last reply, to better see you through this instance?

Re: your Dutch chatbot -- I ran into the exact same issue. HubSpot’s AI is English-first, so Dutch queries get mangled before processing. Quick wins: restructure KB into short Q&As using customer exact wording, and hard-code “blocked”/“vergrendeld” as instant handoffs.

But I also checked out your site at dlcdaniel.com. Solid info, but it is running a pretty generic template that does not do much to convert visitors into leads. No clear CTA flow, no trust signals beyond the rates table, and the mobile experience likely is not great.

I rebuild sites like this into proper conversion machines. Here is what I would do for yours:

  • Lead capture above the fold -- most visitors bounce before scrolling. A mortgage qualifier form plus instant rate estimate would grab them immediately.
  • Trust stack -- client testimonials, “as seen in,” closed deals counter. Mortgage is high-trust; your site needs to sell YOU, not just DLC.
  • Chatbot integration -- a proper Dutch-friendly bot (not HubSpot’s beta) that pre-qualifies leads and books calls while you sleep.
  • Mobile-first rebuild -- 70%+ of your traffic is probably mobile. That current template is not built for it.

I also put together a free Google Sheets CRM for tracking leads, follow-ups, and bot handoffs -- check it out at dexifyglobalholdings.org.

Happy to share a quick mockup of what your site could look like -- no cost, no pitch. Just reply here or shoot me a note through my site.

Hey! I saw your post about sequences finishing after only one email — that’s frustrating, but I can definitely help you figure this out.

This usually happens for a few common reasons:

• Contact exited the sequence early (unsubscribed, bounced, or met an exit condition)
• Timing/delay settings — the next email might be scheduled but hasn’t sent yet
• Dynamic sequence rules — if it’s conditional, the contact may not have met the criteria for the next step
• Sequence was manually marked finished or had a “stop on reply” trigger activated

To resume without sending duplicates:
Most platforms let you re-enroll contacts into a sequence at a specific step. Look for “Resume sequence,” “Re-enroll,” or “Start from step X” in your tool. If you tell me which platform you’re using (Klaviyo, ActiveCampaign, HubSpot, etc.), I can give you the exact steps.
