Hello!
I’d like to understand why certain leads are being sent to certain sales team. To do this I’d like to do reporting on what field caused a lead to go to a workflow and be assigned to a specific team. Is it possible to do this?

Q: Reporting on what triggered a workflow
Short A: Not unless you designed your workflow trigger to match the specific element of your business process ahead of time. (see examples)
Longer A: (requires scenario explanation)
Our Scenario: Acme Computers sells computers to companies and to individuals. Business Process Rule: Sales reps handle either sales to a company OR sales to an individual. No sales rep sells to both.
Personnel Rules: Sally sells to corporate customers. Ben sells to individuals.
Custom Contact Property: ‘Customer Type’ = ‘corporate’ or ‘individual’
(this is a simple example)
Workflow Name: Assign Leads to Corporate Sales
Workflow Trigger: Customer Type Flag = ‘corporate’
-- next step - Assign lead to Sally
Based on our simple scenario we will know the following about each customer contact that is properly flagged (corporate or individual) and who lives in our workflows.
- HubSpot Owner (Sally if corporate and Ben if individual)
- Workflow Memberships (‘Assign Leads to Corporate Sales’ &/or ‘Assign Leads to Individual Sales’)
Note: This simple example does not allow for the occasion when a corporate customer want’s to purchase a personal computer for their individual use. In that case, our solution would be more complex.
Point?
We need to clearly define business processes FIRST. Then consider what reporting considerations are important to the organization. Once these criteria are know we can begin to design smart list and workflow solutions that feed our reporting appropriately.
Depending how far along you are defining your business processes you may want to use a more robust reporting tool than HubSpot offers. Just a thought.
Hope that helps.
