Use case
I’m a remote worker who moves between a basement office and other parts of my home multiple times a day. When I’m at my desk, I want calls to ring in the HubSpot browser. When I step away (lunch, upstairs, etc.), I want calls to ring in the HubSpot mobile app so I don’t miss them.
Today, switching between these modes requires going to Settings → General → Calling → Inbound calling preferences → Ring preference and saving the change each time. That’s several clicks for something I might want to toggle multiple times per day.
Problem
Because the setting is buried in the calling settings page, it’s easy to forget to switch, which increases the risk of missed calls whenever I move away from my desk. This makes it harder to rely on HubSpot Calling as my primary number.
Proposed improvement
Add a quick-access toggle for inbound ring preference in the top-right user/profile menu (or in the main calling UI). For example:
- A small dropdown that shows options like: “Ring in browser”, “Ring in mobile app”, “Forward to phone”.
- One click to change the active ring mode, without navigating into Settings.
Impact
- Fewer missed calls for remote and hybrid workers who move between locations.
- Makes HubSpot Calling feel more like a modern softphone with “follow me” behavior.
- Encourages more users to rely on HubSpot numbers instead of personal mobile numbers, since it’s easy to switch where calls ring.
