I am using the hubspot starter version and my gmail account that is linked to hubspot has problem. Whenever I recieve any email into my gmail inbox HubSpot creates a customer associated with that incoming email and I get a duplicate of that email that comes into my gmail inbox from “Hubspot” with the subject line " New unassigned email conversation"… Please help! My gmail inbox is exploding! and I have to constantly delete in hobspot all of the false customers created with each and every email that comes into gmail. Thanks!

It sounds like you connected your personal Gmail account as a conversations inbox. These inboxes are generally not meant for personal email addresses but for shared team email addresses.
Rather than setting up your personal email as a conversations inbox, you should disconnect it and connect your personal email address following these steps: Connect your personal email
Additionally, you would install the HubSpot Sales Chrome extension: Set up the HubSpot Sales Chrome extension
You can then choose which emails should be logged/tracked (and create contacts). This decision can be made for each email, see here: Logging emails
This will automatically stop the “New unassigned email conversation”. These notifications are triggered for conversations inboxes. With this approach, you would not use this conversations inbox anymore. You would also have control over which outgoing emails create contacts, by checking the appropriate boxes in the Chrome extension, see above..
Incoming emails would land in your regular email client, as they would always do. They’d log into HubSpot automatically if they’re a reply to an email sent by you through the HubSpot Sales Chrome extension, this is explained here: Log email replies in the CRM
In other words, you would not have an email client / inbox to manage incoming emails in HubSpot anymore. (HubSpot is simply not designed to be an inbox. Only shared team email addresses are supposed to be managed under Menu > Conversations > Inbox.)
If you want to keep using the conversations inbox (which I would not recommend), contacts are created automatically. You can switch off the email notifications by navigating to Settings > Notifications and search for “New unassigned email conversation”, you can then uncheck that box:
