Simple as that. I would like the option to have a form not automatically set/update the contact’s lifecycle stage. Currently, there is no checkbox/toggle switch for this in the form settings.
The only current option is to make the lifecycle stage that the form submission sets as the most entry-level stage we have, because lifecycle stages can’t move backward through automation.
But, I mean… ya know?
This is perhaps the most Un-Hubspot thing I have ever seen in Hubspot. Right up there with the inability to shift+select multiple items and having different filtering options for lists and views.
This setting really is an issue when trying to use the form tool to run various marketing activities with both existing customer and new prospects. Especially with the number of tools in HS relying on this parameter to set conversions.
At the moment, it appears that the only option is to abandon the pre-built automations to rebuild them and use our own sets of workflows and conversion event properties. (That or go from Pro to Enterprise Plan with custom conversion events built-in, custom objects and data ops in workflows…)
Just stumbled upon this limitation today as well. There’s no workaround either, especially if your form has a combination of contact and company properties baked in. We prefer to track MQLs at the contact level only - because we are tracking specific/targeted engagements. If a company auto-converts to an MQL after a singular contact submits a form, then the lifecycle sync setting will change ALL contacts to MQLs at that company. Really bad for reporting on total MQLs in our funnel as the numbers become inflated.
The only option I see is to remove any cross object properties from the form, which again limits some of our data capture when we are tracking B2B metrics. The only other alternative is to disable the lifecycle sync settings for company/contact. But that opens up the need for an abundance of custom workflows, taking us further away from using Hubspot the way it was intended to be used.
+1 for the ability to change this setting. We have clients who book through the meeting scheduler, and it’s changing them from a “customer” lifecycle stage to a “lead” lifecycle stage.
