Hi All,
I know we can select an option to “block free email providers” in forms, but I want to exclude these from email sends probably using a supression list. Options I’m thinking on.
- Create a list of contacts who’s email is on the default HS “free” list.
- If there is a global set up option to exclude sends to that list.
- If there is a per campaign option to exclude (if not done via a suppression list)
Thoughts and suggestions welcome!
Hi @GHector0,
There’s unfortunately no such thing as an account-wide suppression list – I have requested this a while ago from the product team: https://community.hubspot.com/t5/HubSpot-Ideas/Account-wide-marketing-email-exclusion-lists-suppression-lists/idi-p/646069
These requests submitted to the HubSpot Ideas section of the community are reviewed by the HubSpot product team, based on their popularity and the assumed demand. I’d recommend commenting and upvoting. The request has 67 upvotes already.
You can also help other HubSpot users find this request more easily (and drive traction) by accepting my reply as a solution. I’d appreciate it, too.
As far as workarounds go, you can always create a list which you than add as a suppression list manually in each marketing email: Exclude specific segments or contacts from receiving a marketing email
To do so, follow these steps:
- Create a contact-based list: Create segments
- Add a filter for “Email domain is equal to”
- Paste either the default HubSpot list or a broader one:
- Domains blocked from form submissions
- GitHub - Kikobeats/free-email-domains: A comprehensive list of all free email domain providers. · GitHub
Have a great day!
Thanks for the speedy reply! I feared as much!
I had thought about the workaround, but the domain list is 4,000+ rows so was unsure how HS would handle such a huge list in filters.
Will mark up accordingly. Cheers.
@GHector0 it really depends on your browser and machine – generally HubSpot can handle multiple thousands of entries. Your browser might slow down and you might be forced to wait a moment. At worst, you’ll have to copy and paste in batches of 500. But overall, it works
