Marketing Contacts

Hi all,

We have about 7K contacts in HubSpot but we have 1K marketing contacts included in our package. We are launching a new brand identity and we would like to send an email out to all 7K contacts but if I understand correctly, once you go up in tiers for marketing contacts, you can’t reduce it back down until renewal which is 2 years away so not an option. This is really just a once-off campaign.

So question is, I signed up for Marketing Enterprise which includes 10K marketing contacts for the 14-day trial. Am I able to use this to send out the email to all 7K contacts and then reduce this back down under 1K before the trial has ended?

Many thanks in advance :slightly_smiling_face:

Hey @SBristow1, how are you?

Thank you for posting in our Community!

I was able to find this** knowledge base here** with more information about understanding marketing contacts billing.

View your marketing contacts update date:

The following will occur on your update date each month:

  • Any contacts set as marketing on your update date will be considered marketing contacts until the next update date. These contacts will count towards your contact tier for that period and affect the cost of your subscription.
  • Any contacts set as non-marketing on your update date will be considered non-marketing contacts until the next time you set them as marketing. Once a contact is set to marketing, you can update their status to non-marketing at any time, but the non-marketing status will not take effect until after the next update date.

For example, your update date is May 1. If you set a contact as marketing on April 30, the contact will be considered a marketing contact for May. If you set the same contact as non-marketing on May 15, they will still be considered a marketing contact and will count towards your contact tier limit until the next update date. The contact’s non-marketing status will take effect on the next update date, June 1.
