I’ve been trying to remove marketing contacts, but whenever I do I get the following pop up message:
_______
Set contacts as non-marketing?
You’re trying to set 25 contacts as non-marketing. Some of the contacts you’ve selected won’t be included in this update:
3 contacts are already set as non-marketing 22 contacts are already scheduled to update to non-marketing on May 31, 2024
______
Now I want to remove the marketing contacts as per my own specific criteria - Why can’t I remove these contacts right now, regardless if they are scheduled to update.
Also, howcome they are scheduled themselves -
Note: I did cross the marketing contacts tier to the next
HubSpot will only set contacts as non-marketing at the beginning of each month. That’s simply how HubSpot decided to design this process - otherwise you’d be able to smartly manage your contacts during the month and always stay below your limit, e.g. set one group of contacts to marketing before email send 1, then back to non-marketing, set another group of contacts to marketing before email send 2, then back to non-marketing and so on.
I presume HubSpot intentionally designed this as a kind of ‘stay-set indicator’. HubSpot simply decided that you’re measured by how many contacts you wanted to contact or contacted within a month.
You’ll have to wait until the beginning of the next month until these changes take effect, see here: Set contacts as non-marketing
So - if I’m understanding this correctly. It will move contacts to marketing contacts at the end of the day. but contacts only become non-marketing contacts at the end of the month, which will
A. make an email I would like to send to a cleaned up database far more difficult to do
and B. ensure I am moved up a tier and charged for it even though the number of marketing contacts I actually want to send to is below the threshold…
I hope someone tells me I am wrong but honestly that’s pretty classic behavior for hubspot.
