Make Projects Available on Starter Plan

Hi,

I would like HubSpot to consider making their Project functionality available on the Starter plan rather than just on higher plans.

Small businesses like my own that does not have the budget for the higher plans also has projects that they need to manage and your competitors such as Copper and Pipedrive are now offering project management functionality at equivalent or cheaper price points to HubSpot Starter.

I may have to look elsewhere for an all in one tool which is not ideal as HubSpot is perfect for most of my needs but I do need to have project management functionality within my CRM.

Matt

@MattGLS25 that’s great feedback for the HubSpot team, Matt. Have you also posted this in the ideas forum? The product team does monitor those and considers requests, especially popular ones. I’d upvote that one for sure!

No, but I will post it there now. Thanks.

@MattGLS25 if you’ll share the link to the idea you posted, I’d also be happy to upvote!

Thanks Jennifer. It’s https://community.hubspot.com/t5/HubSpot-Ideas/Make-Projects-avaialble-on-Starter-Plan/idi-p/746000

Hi all, I don’t believe this vote has affected a change as yet.
Has anyone trialled using other apps integrated with Hubspot for projects, such as click-up?
Thanks!

Hi @MattGLS25,

Good news, there’s a public beta for a new projects object under Settings → Product updates → All → Project Object with Gantt Chart View:

Project Object with Gantt Chart View

What is it?

You can now manage projects using a new Project object and visualize them with a Gantt chart view, giving you the ability to execute structured project management directly in HubSpot’s Smart CRM. The Gantt chart view provides a visual timeline of your records and associated tasks, helping you see how work is progressing over time. You can also use table view and board view.

Why does it matter?

Teams managing cross-functional work often struggle with visibility into project timelines and task dependencies. Previously, managing projects in HubSpot required adapting existing tools, leading to scattered information and misalignment. With native project management in the CRM, teams can track progress, adjust timelines, and keep project data connected to workflows and reporting all in one place.

With the Project object and Gantt chart view, teams can:

  • See timelines and tasks in one place
  • Track progress and adjust plans as things change
  • Keep project data connected to workflows, reporting, and the rest of the CRM
  • Align teams around what needs to happen and when

How does it work?

Watch this Loom for a walkthrough.

To activate the Project object:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Data Management > Object Library
  2. Select the Projects checkbox, then click Confirm
  3. Configure properties, pipelines, and automation on the Project Settings page

To access the Gantt chart view:

  1. Go to any CRM index page
  2. Select an object type (available for Projects, Deals, Services, and their associated Tasks)
  3. Click the View type button and select Gantt view

Using the Gantt chart:

  • View record and task timelines visually
  • Drag timeline bars to adjust dates
  • Add and complete associated tasks directly in the chart
  • Filter and zoom to focus on specific records or timeframes
  • All changes sync automatically with CRM properties

Who gets it?

Access to the Gantt chart view is available to accounts on Starter, Professional, or Enterprise subscriptions.

Hey @MattGLS25!
From my understanding, the old Projects tool has been deprecated, and HubSpot has rolled out a brand new Projects object. This now lives inside the Smart CRM as a core object, so it’s much more accessible for smaller teams.

Here’s what you get with the new Projects object today:

  • Project records with start dates, due dates, durations, owners, and custom properties.
  • Pipelines and kanban view so you can organize projects just like you would with deals or tickets.
  • Built-in pipeline tags like Overdue and Due soon.
  • Gantt chart view so you can actually visualize timelines (this one has people really excited).
  • Calendar view so you can plan work by due dates.
  • Workflow automation to spin up projects automatically (e.g. when a deal is marked closed-won).

HubSpot has also listed a set of “in development” features for Projects, including:

  • Subtasks
  • Task dependencies
  • Project templates
  • Task cards

These are expected to roll out fairly quickly since the object itself just launched at INBOUND 2025.

For small businesses, this should be a big improvement because you now have a native way to track and manage projects directly in HubSpot. It’s not a full replacement for something like Asana or ClickUp if you need deep project management (at least not yet), but it’s a strong step in that direction.
