Mail unsubscribe link doesn't work

When I send a mail using Hubspot, the email gets delivered but the unsubscribe link doesn’t work. Instead, I get the error “There was a problem loading the page.” I suspect something in the configuration is not correct.
I have sent the test email to two different email addresses but got the same result. These links should be operational for a Free account, correct?

@Kirk2015 is this a marketing email or a 1:1 email?

This is a Marketing Email. I have created a newsletter list but have been testing with two"lists" that only include one email, each different and both mine.

@Kirk2015 in settings > email > subscriptions, is that what it looks like?

These pages will be where they go when they click “manage preferences.” I think it also sets up the unsubscribe link. That link should work for all tiers of HubSpot, and isn’t something that can be turned off.

Hello,
When I go to that page, I can view the existing pages (preview file),
which look good, but I cannot edit them (Preference page) using my Free
account.
Does it all look good to you?

@Kirk2015 it sounds like you might have a limitation due to using the free version of HubSpot. If you can’t edit the pages, it could be that limitation.

However, you should still be able to have recipients click the “unsibscribe” or “manage preferences” links and be able to unsubscribe.

As for what it looks like, I don’t have the links you do so I can’t click them. And I can’t see your portal, so I’m not sure what you’re referring to when you’re asking “Does it all look good to you?”, I’m sorry.

Have you connected your email sending domain for HubSpot? It looks like maybe the error you shared is from your email, so I’m wondering if you’re testing that and getting an error because you haven’t connected your email sending?

I saw that those pages likely were what I should see when clicking the Unsubscribe or Manage Preferences links at the bottom of the email. I do not understand why when I do click those links I get the error page attached. Can you explain that?

Hello Dan,

I am attaching the email content so you can see and test the Unsubscribe
link (which is at the bottom).
I was told the free version would
support the Unsubscribe and Manage Preferences links. But it doesn’t work.
I must be missing something simple in the configuration.

If you do not see the email below, please send an email directly to
kirk2015@consiliumccs.com, and I will
respond with the test email attached.
Thanks for helping me out with this.

Overcoming Challenges: Small Business Woes and Solutions

Small businesses are the backbone of economies, driving innovation, providing local employment opportunities, and contributing to communities. However, even the most passionate entrepreneurs face challenges along their journey. In this blog, we will explore three common issues that small business owners encounter and discuss potential solutions to overcome them.
  • Lack of Motivation and Joy:
It's not uncommon for small business owners to experience a decline in motivation and joy over time. The initial excitement and drive that fueled their entrepreneurial spirit can fade as the daily grind takes its toll. This can lead to a loss of enthusiasm for their work and hinder business growth.
Solution: Rediscovering Purpose and Passion
To reignite motivation and find joy in their work, small business owners can start by reassessing their purpose. Reflect on why you started the business in the first place and reconnect with your core values. Consider setting new goals and objectives that align with your passions.Additionally, seeking support from like-minded individuals, such as joining local business networks or engaging with business mentors, can provide fresh perspectives and renewed motivation.
  • Strategy-to-Operations Gap:
Transitioning from strategic planning to practical implementation can be a stumbling block for small businesses. Developing a comprehensive strategy is essential, but executing it effectively is equally important. Without a seamless transition, businesses may find themselves stuck in a state of inertia.
Solution: Streamlining Strategy Execution
Small business owners should focus on clear communication and alignment throughout the organization to bridge the gap between strategy and operations.Develop a well-defined implementation plan that outlines specific actions, responsibilities, and timelines. Regularly review and assess progress, adjusting strategies if necessary. Embracing technology and automation tools can also streamline operations and improve efficiency.
  • Costly Trial and Error:
The journey of entrepreneurship often involves a series of trial and error, with each mistake potentially coming at a significant cost. Small business owners can find themselves in a frustrating cycle of making repeated errors and encountering financial setbacks.
Solution: Leveraging Knowledge and Expertise
To break free from the costly trial and error loop, small business owners should prioritize learning and seek guidance from experienced professionals.Invest in education and training programs that are relevant to your industry and business needs. Engaging with industry experts, consultants, or mentors can provide invaluable insights and help navigate potential pitfalls. By leveraging the knowledge and expertise of others, entrepreneurs can make informed decisions and reduce the likelihood of costly mistakes.
In conclusion, running a small business is no easy task, but by addressing common challenges head-on, entrepreneurs can increase their chances of success. From regaining motivation and joy to bridging the gap between strategy and operations and avoiding costly mistakes, there are solutions available for each obstacle.By adopting a proactive mindset, seeking support, and continuously learning, small business owners can overcome these hurdles and unlock the full potential of their ventures. Remember, entrepreneurship is a journey, and embracing these challenges as opportunities for growth is the key to long-term success.

Hi @Kirk2015. I tested it, and it works for me. Here’s a video:

You’ll notice the unbsubscribe & manage prefences page both include your email - that’s because each unsub link is unique to the person receiving the email. So I saw your unsub link.

So to me it looks like it’s working, and maybe there’s an Outlook error happening on your end. It doesn’t seem to be a HubSpot issue fortunately.

Thanks Dan for testing this!

Happy to help @Kirk2015
