I would like to suggest that the option to be able to log interaction (even if it’s manually) from Linkedin, could be very intersting instead of logging them in a note or a task.
I mean, we have (log a call / log an email / log an appointment) we could have another option “log a social media interaction, or linkedin interaction or whatever”
I can not believe that linkedin messages/interactions can’t be logged!. Salesforce can, Microsoft dynamics can…It is an imporant metric. It would be as simple as adding. Om contacts, it’s a simple add to the bar that has Activity - Notes - Calls - Tasks - Meetings…there is plenty of space!.
I need to monitor my teams interactions across email, telephone and Linkedin…I can only do one of those via dashboards.
At the moment the best solution is to use notes and include a keyphrase in those notes. For example, if you log a LinkedIn interaction make sure you add something like ‘-LinkedIn interaction’ at the bottom of the note. You can then easily search all notes via this tag and get analytics via the API.
I work on a product, LinkedHub (unofficial), that automates this.

Yes, 100%. This is a great idea. So many leads generate from and communication happens on LinkedIn through connections and messages, not just LinkedIn Messaging.
I am going to second-most of the comments here. The ability to log messages between a contact and sales rep via LinkedIn or any other social media platform such as Facebook or Twitter would go a long way to improving our sales process and holding people accountable to metrics. At the moment most of this data is a black box. We have logged these messages to a spreadsheet that we then attempt to roll up in our reporting but this gets away from the crafted platform experience that is HubSpot. What would be great is a way to connect these accounts and allow us to have conversations with our prospects much as we do on the platform. HubSpot does enable some of this functionality with LinkedIn allowing us to send inmail but these are not logged to the CRM.
We explored LinkedHub.io and this tool looks awesome but we are only logging the conversation events to HubSpot as notes. For this tool to meet our needs, it would have to log the messages to the activity events so that we can report on sales activities.
