Looking for ways to standardize and automate lead record naming for our team that attends tradeshows/ conferences.
Hi @JShields8,
Could you share a bit more context about your desired outcome / requirements? Can you give an example for a lead name currently and what you would like it to be? It’s currently difficult to answer your question due to the lack of context.
Very generally, you can create a lead-based workflow, use the ‘Edit record’ workflow action to rename it, using personalization tokens of other lead properties (or properties of associated records) as building blocks of the eventual new lead name. Create workflows
Best regards
Hi @JShields8! I was grabbing a screenshot very similar to what @karstenkoehler mentioned as a solution. You could look at a WorkFlow to rename a Lead. A Lead record is not always available in Workflows, and so, we do need more context. Here’s an example of using a Workflow that triggers on Deals, but one of the available actions would be to edit the Lead Name and use Personalization Tokens to change the name.
Hi @JShields8!
A few options I like to use!
1. If tradeshow/conference leads are coming from a form, you can automate lead creation when the form is submitted to standardize the names.
2. If you import information gathered from conferences/events. Then use the import name as a trigger in a contact based workflow to automatically create the leads with the naming convention (and other information) that you choose.
3. If you have any properties on the contact level that track event/tradeshow information (ie event name or lead source) you can update the name with this information as a workflow trigger.
- Trigger = Event Name is X
-Edit Record > Lead Name > [desired naming convention] ex. [*First Name* *Last Name* | *Event Name*]
You can also add in filters for lead/contact owners if there is a different naming convention per team.
Hope this helps!
