I have a question is there a mechanism wherein I can filter out how many people I have contacted datewise instead of yesterday or today??? like if i want to know how many mails I have sent on a particular date.

To accomplish this, either create an active list or navigate to Menu > Contacts > Contacts, click More filters in the center of the screen and filter by Last contacted:

You can create reports regarding emails. Go to Reports > Report Library > Sales Email (from left-hand side bar). You will many reports based on sales emails like sales email conversations over time or Email conversations total by rep. Save the report. Then you can change the date once the report is created.
