Help needed with contacts limit reached

I am unable to add more contacts to my free account. The limit is 1000, and I only have 425. I keep getting a message saying I’ve reached my limit. Not sure why this is happening

Hi @NSteward8,
Thank you for posting to the Community!
Can you please provide a screenshot of the error stating that you have reached your limit?

Hi @NSteward8

That’s a strange one. The free plan’s contact limit (1,000 total) includes all contacts in your CRM, even if they’re hidden by filters or marked for deletion.

A common cause is that deleted contacts aren’t fully removed yet, they sit in the recycle bin until permanently deleted after 90 days. You can check this by going to Contacts > Actions > Restore or permanently delete

(Delete CRM records )

Also worth confirming that you’re checking the marketing contacts view. If your account has any contacts marked as “marketing,” HubSpot sometimes counts them differently depending on your plan type

(Set contacts as marketing )

Try permanently deleting the old or test records and then refresh your contacts page. If it still shows the error after that, clearing browser cache or trying from an incognito window sometimes resolves stuck UI limits.

Hope this clears it up.
