Curently, we are very limited in terms of what we can create on a knowledge base article in terms of custom code. For example
Serial number lookup field custom script
Shipping status lookup custom script
HTML tables
Complex layouts
Download buttons
Forms
For pages / landing pages one is much less restricted. So I would love it if you can give us the edit tools you have for pages also for knowledge base articles. This would be a game changer in terms of flexibility of the KB. This would also give features like revision history to KB articles and planned publication dates.
I’d like to opensource it, but at this moment, I do not believe we want to reveal the entire product here. I will speak with and spot what he thinks about maybe freeing a number of our code we did for our mininum possible product(MVP) when we were pitching the concept.
Hi everyone!
This idea’s status has changed from ‘Being Reviewed’ to ‘Idea Submitted’. This change is due to our improvement project to update our Ideas Forum statuses in order to provide better transparency into how we are listening to your feedback.
“Idea Submitted” means that our product teams are aware of this feedback and are monitoring the need for this feature alongside other inputs that determine their priorities & roadmap.
For more details about the statuses we use on the Ideas Forum & what they mean, you can read this community post here.
PLEASE Just make it a RICH TEXT EDITOR. It is painfully absurd that there is no source code option to edit the HTML yourself like you can for any other landing page or module; which would easily fix the bulleted list issues and font colors and spacing and so on and so forth.
Grid/card layout for Knowledge Base category article listings
They use the HubSpot Knowledge Base as a resource center for their customers, and they want to provide a clear, visual way for them to browse content within each category.
Right now:
On the KB home page, they can use the Theme Editor to show categories in a grid/card layout, which works well and is easy for customers to scan.
On the category pages, the articles are shown only in a simple vertical list, with no option to change the template or layout.
Their request/use case:
They’d like to be able to configure category listing pages so that articles within a category can also be displayed in a grid/card layout, similar to how categories are displayed on the home page.
Ideally, this would be done via:
The Theme Editor, or
An option to edit the template / underlying module for category pages (HTML + CSS), or
Support for custom modules/templates specifically for KB category listings.
Why this matters:
The current list view is confusing and hard to scan for our end users, especially when there are many articles in a category.
A tile/card layout would give a much better UX, letting us highlight key resources visually, group content more clearly, and make the resource center feel more modern and intuitive.
This is important not only for them but also for other customers who use the KB as a front‑facing help center and need more flexibility in how content is presented.
In short, they’d love extended page/template editing support for Knowledge Base category pages, so they can switch from a simple list to a grid/card layout for article listings.
