Email Connection error

I can’t connect my cPanel-hosted personal mailbox to HubSpot. It returns “Server error: unable to create inbox.” I’m using mail.trendycommunications.com, IMAP 993 and SMTP 465 with SSL/TLS and authentication. Webmail works, and my hosting provider says nothing is blocked. What should I check on the HubSpot side?

Hi @Timwarby, I’m not a HubSpot employee, just another small-business user, so treat this as a checklist rather than a guaranteed fix. That ‘unable to create inbox’ error often comes from a mismatch on the connection side, so I’d check these: 1) Use your full email address as the username for both IMAP and SMTP, not just the part before the @. 2) Make sure the certificate on the mail host actually matches the server name you typed, because a self-signed or mismatched certificate can fail even when webmail works. 3) Ask your host whether the mailbox’s IMAP is limited by IP or by a connection cap. 4) Try connecting through the Gmail or Microsoft option if you can forward to one of those. 5) If it still fails, contact HubSpot support with the exact error and time, since they can see logs we can’t. Hope that helps, and please share what you find.
