Hi,
I am importing from an excel with columns like Name, Addrress, Comany, Phone, email, etc. Now in this xl data, there are several “contacts” from the same “company”. But when i import and after proper mapping of the fields, i still get companies that are duplicated entries.
For example: Contact Name - Company
Contact Mr.A - XYZ Ltd
Contact Mr.B - PQR Ltd
Contact Ms.C - XYZ Ltd
Contact Ms.D - XYZ Ltd
Contact Mr.E - PQR Ltd
After import, i get 5 contacts (correctly) and 5 compannies (wrong) instead of 2 company.
3 companies with the same name XYZ Ltd and another 2 companies with the same name PQR Ltd. Thus leading to duplicte entries of the same company.
I do not have domain names of the companies, just Name.
Please advise right way to do it without using any paid service.

How many records and or companies are you importing per day? If it’s a smaller amount…
If the Companies do not exist in HubSpot yet, I would first import them in a separate import. I know it’s not the most efficient process. However, each Company in HubSpot has a unique identifier. If you export a list of Companies, it will be the “Contact ID”. It is also in the URL. I personally ALWAYS export and match the HubSpot Contact IDs on the new import when associating it with something that already exists in HubSpot. It may take me 10 extra minutes, but not having to go back and fix a bunch of issues, makes it worth it.
I hope someone has a more efficient way to handle this.

Exporting just companies does not help much. I tried it. Have around 400 records.
I dont undertsand why all this work aorunds are needed when CRM should be making life easier and not difficult. An this is not a big deal to identify and remove duplicates. Hubspot should review their offerings.
@TejasMehta, I understand your frustration of having needs, and not every one of them met. However, having used many other popular CRMs, HubSpot is by far the best in my opinion. I’m sure there are 100+ ideas per day that could solve all people’s issues but each one would take 6 mo - 3 years to make a viable product in reality. I thought a “basic update” was so easy, yet when I reading into it, it could easily give users endless loops unless they knew exactly what they are doing. I suggest you post your ideas to the ideas forum or upvote if your idea is already there.
If you are able to post screenshots of your import with company info and what is happening in HubSpot, I may be able to help you find an easier workaround.
