Hello everyone,I’m currently trying to resend the Double Opt-In (DOI) email to one of my contacts. I’ve set up a flow that checks the email confirmation status, and if it’s not confirmed, it should automatically send the DOI email again. However, I’m unsure how to trigger the resend of the DOI email within this flow. The only method I know of is manually resending it through the contact menu’s action options. If anyone has a more streamlined or automated solution for this, I’d really appreciate your insights! Thanks in advance, Fabian
Hi @FDürrDuerr1990,
This would require a Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise subscription – you would re-enroll contacts into a contact-workflow based on any form submission, along with the criterion ‘Marketing email confirmation status is none of User clicked confirmation / Customer marked confirmed / empty’. The next step would be the send of the automated double opt-in email.
I’m not aware of any ways to achieve this in Marketing Hub Starter or the free CRM. The simple automation / flows don’t offer the flexibility that is needed to configure this, as far as I know.
Best regards!
I am sorry I marked my license wrong i have the professional license already existing.
I just don’t know how to resend the DOI Email in the Flow. Because without any DOI accepted I am not able to resend any Mail. Or Could you explain me how i should setup this process: The next step would be the send of the automated double opt-in email.
@FDürrDuerr1990 what exactly is your current configuration? Can you please share screenshots?
@FDürrDuerr1990 can you please share the entire workflow? I’m not able to help without having the full picture and all context.
I am sorry find enclosed:
The DOI Email is set like this:
The workflow worked definitely fine for all customers that accepted DOI because the normal Flow goes over the Meta Inlead Flow and this works fine. But if not accepted then the email on the left side obviously went not out so i wanted to retrigger the DOI Email so the customer needs to accept DOI and then get the email on the left side of the flow. But until now not even the New Email test has been sended and given the error above. (I know that the Flow on the right side is not complete.)
@FDürrDuerr1990 thank you for the additional screenshot – I’m not sure this can be fully resolved via a forum conversation, due to the complexity of an email confirmation process and the many different interpretations of legal requirements and how they affect subscription types.
In any case, here’s what the process would typically look like:
- A first workflow enrolls contacts who submit a form and who do not have a positive marketing email confirmation status, then sends an email that asks for the email confirmation
- A second workflow enrolls contacts based on the same criteria, starts with a delay, then sends a reminder version of the email from step 1, asking for the email confirmation
The second workflow must have unenrollment set so that contacts immediately unenroll upon confirmation (‘User clicked confirmation’).
That way, you have an initial double opt-in email send after a form submission, only for contacts who have not confirmed before. The second workflow automatically enrolls all contacts into a reminder flow – but contacts are immediately removed if they confirm in the meantime. If they don’t, they’ll receive the automated email or a reminder version of it again.
Any other workflow can then simply enroll contacts based the marketing email confirmation status.
(My reply does not constitute legal advice.)
Best regards!
Hi Karsten,
I’m trying to implement a flow as you described above. Problem is, my workflow wont let me send the double opt-in email cause its not of type automated (its of type “Double opt-in”). What can I do in this case?
@MAlt2020 you need to create a double opt-in email from scratch, the system one cannot be used in workflows. Best regards!
But it doesnt seem like I can set this “new” email as the opt-in email in the Double Opt-In Settings. When I click on “edit email” it links to the default opt-in email. Do I have to delete it first? And if so, would an automated email behave the same way as the system email, i.e. it sends the email when a certain form is submitted?
@MAlt2020 it’s either or: You either use the system double opt-in settings or you build your own logic with a custom workflow and a custom email from scratch. You wouldn’t use both at the same time.
I offer a full setup of a double opt-in configuration as part of my paid HubSpot consultation – let me know if you’re interested in that.
thank you very much for the swift replies!
@FDürrDuerr1990 I’m having the exact same problem and I couldn’t find a solution yet. My DOI emails in workflows always get blocked because the user is not a “marketing contact” yet. Did you find a solution? Any insights on how to fix this problem?
@IsaEhr emails require marketing contact status - the only way around that is the transactional email (paid) add-on. It is not possible to send the double opt-in without either. If you have a workflow, make sure to set marketing contact status before the email is sent.
@FDürrDuerr1990 I forgot to mention that this workflow would have to delay by your desired time range after enrollment and goals / unenrollment criteria would have to be set up to automatically unenroll when the marketing email confirmation status is positive.
