Data Import

Hi,

I have imported an incorrect data - and now have many duplicates . I am looking to see if I can delete.

I have gone to settings, import, and go to import. When I click on the past imports and select the one, I cannot delete it.I clicked on the list and tried to select companies and then delete them, but I still cannot.

Is there another way around this?

Hi @CogConsulting,

Imports itself cannot be deleted, correct. Once an import is done, it’s done.

You can however delete the records that were created through an import. To do so, navigate to the import section, hover over the import and click ‘View …’.

This should then take you to the index page and show all of the records where you should be able to bulk delete them: Delete CRM records

If one of these steps is not working, please share a screenshot of what exactly you’re running into.

Best regards!

Hi @CogConsulting,

If you’ve imported incorrect data into HubSpot and are now dealing with duplicates, here’s an alternative approach to resolve the issue:

  1. Access Your Data Management Tools:

    • Navigate to your HubSpot account.
    • Click on your profile picture in the top right corner and select Settings.
  2. Review Import History:

    • In the left sidebar menu, go to Data Management > Imports.
    • Locate the import that caused the duplicates and click on it to view the details.
  3. Manually Delete Duplicates:

    • If you cannot delete the import directly, you can manually delete the imported records:
Go to the Contacts, Companies, or Deals tab, depending on where the duplicates were created.
    • Use the filter options to identify the records created during the import. You can filter by “Create Date” or any unique identifier from the import.
    • Select the filtered records and delete them.
  4. Use the “Merge Duplicates” Tool:

    • Another way to handle duplicates is by using HubSpot’s “Merge Duplicates” tool:
      • Go to Contacts > Contacts or Companies > Companies.
      • Click the Actions dropdown menu and select Manage duplicates.
      • HubSpot will show you a list of potential duplicates. Review and merge the records as needed.
  5. Contact HubSpot Support:

    • If the above steps do not resolve the issue, consider reaching out to HubSpot Support for assistance. They can provide more advanced solutions tailored to your specific situation.

Here is a HubSpot Knowledge Base article that provides additional details on managing imports and dealing with duplicates.
Best regards,

Hi @CogConsulting

if you are no able to delete the records created

this might be a permits problem.

Check if you are super admin in the account or if you have these 2 options on:

Once you are given these permits, try to delete again.

hope this helps

Hi @CogConsulting

Imports in HubSpot can’t be rolled back or “deleted” as events, that part hasn’t changed in 2025. What you can always do is bulk-delete the records that came in through a specific import.

When you open the import in Settings > Data Management > Imports, you’ll see the option “View imported records.” From there you can filter, select all, and delete. HubSpot’s documentation walks you through the steps here:

(View and analyze past imports )

If you’re running into issues with permissions, double-check you have Super Admin rights or at least delete access on the object type (contacts, companies, deals, etc.). Without that, the delete button will remain unavailable.

(Delete CRM records )

For duplicates that are not easy to spot, the built-in “Manage Duplicates” tool under Contacts or Companies is still the go-to. It uses HubSpot’s own algorithms to surface likely matches for merging.

As a side note, if you find yourself often cleaning up imports and trying to keep data consistent across tools, platforms like Stacksync help avoid the mess by keeping records in real-time sync between systems, so you don’t need to bulk delete or re-import later when something goes wrong.

Hope this helps.
