For some reason Hubspot doesn’t allow editing email chains (in either Conversations or a ticket’s email) before forwarding. This is a standard feature in every email box I’ve ever used.
Sometimes there is sensitive information or simply information we don’t want to share in an email chain but we can’t remove those parts. All past conversations in the chain are more like a photo.
We then have to create a new email and copy and paste the parts we want to send, which creats a new conversation and ticket. This is cumbersome.
We’d love this feature or a easier workaround. We can’t be the only company having issues with this.

Currently, when forwarding an email from HubSpot’s Conversations shared inbox or a contact record, the entire original message (including quoted thread content and attachments) is automatically included. There’s no option to edit or remove sensitive or irrelevant portions of the email before sending.
Proposed Enhancement:
Add the ability to edit the body of the email before forwarding, so users can:
- Remove confidential or internal information before sharing with external recipients
- Forward only the relevant portion of a long thread
- Delete unnecessary attachments when forwarding
Benefits:
- Improves control over what information is shared externally
- Matches standard email functionality in Gmail, Outlook, and other email clients
- Helps ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) by avoiding accidental sharing of personal or sensitive data
- Reduces recipient confusion by removing irrelevant parts of the conversation
Impact:
This is critical for sales, support, and compliance teams who frequently forward portions of conversations to third parties, vendors, or internal stakeholders.
Example UI Suggestion:
When clicking Forward, load the email content into an editable text area (like when composing a new email) so users can remove or modify parts before sending.
I ran into the same problem when forwarding an email. I don’t want the new recipient knowing who the forwarded email went to, and there is no way to clear that prior to sending.
I checked today, and it seems to be added now! You can click on the three dots in the e-mail you would like to write, then the email conversation opens and you can edit it.
I cannot believe that this is not possible yet. You can see the chain in the 3 dots but you cannot delete it or edit it. Clients needs this functionality ASAP.
I support this idea. Being able to edit a forwarded email thread is important for privacy and clarity. There are many situations where only part of a conversation should be shared, and manually copying content into a new email is inefficient. Having an editable forward option would make HubSpot much more practical for support and sales teams.
