Does anyone have any workflows that can automatically merge a contact that comes in? Or any ideas how to make sure known customers that chat in, opt in, etc automatically set a lifecycle stage?
@AnthonyBell Can you expand on your thought? What is the trigger causing the second contact creation?
If a contact has the same email then they will automatically merge.
We found a few internal processes that we can correct. But we are having a lot of current customers chat in or create tickets from our support page using new emails, thus creating new contacts…any thoughts?
@AnthonyBell I use the free crm version and do not have access to workflows and do not have extra plug ins. It seems that the contacts themselves are causing the issue using different information. Once you merge them, this will help with future duplications using the same criteria.
Check out the dedupe feature.
I prefer do “merge” manually ensuring it is correct.
@jennysowyrda and thoughts?
Hi @AnthonyBell,
As the email address is the deduplicator within HubSpot, there wouldn’t be a way to automatically know which contacts belong together.
Additionally, if the user is on the same computer with the same cookie, the email address would update as opposed to creating a new contact.
Thank you,
Jenny
There is a way to know if which records are duplicate if you allow us to create the rules to do so. E.g. same phone number or other field that we the user can specify. It is extremely frustrating to not allow us to merge records on our own.
please, we need the merge to happen automatically!
we are trying to merge companies with different names but same urls. Would be great to be able to do this in bulk or by default.
