Workflow e-mail automatization

Hello, everyone.

I’m starting to learn about HubSpot and I’m curious if there is any type of automation for emails that are not answered or not opened.
Specifically, I’m looking for automation that can track “no engagement” behavior after a sequence and then send a different follow-up email with more engaging content.

Can HubSpot help with this, or are our options limited to leads that show engagement?

Hi @itsgabiok,

That’s default behavior in sequences – the moment a contact replies, the sequence will stop :slightly_smiling_face: Unenroll contacts from a sequence

There is no need to set up any automation specifically for this. You would simply design the sequence as an ongoing series of emails, calls, tasks etc and it’ll stop the moment the unenrollment criteria linked above are met.

For more control over sequence behavior, you can use dynamic sequences: Create and edit dynamic sequences

Best regards

PS. I wouldn’t build any automation based on email opens as email open tracking is simply very, very unreliable.

Assuming that you are talking about the Sequence tool – in HubSpot sequences, it’s a linear path:

  • Can track if emails are opened or replied to
  • Will automatically stop if someone replies
  • Cannot branch or change paths based on engagement
  • Are strictly linear, one email after another

So, if you want to automate this in the Sequence tool – that won’t work – nor is it technically necessary given how the Sequence tool is built.
However, you can use filters to create a list based on non-engagement.

So, if they haven’t replied to a sales email (sequence) and have been in a sequence, you could create a list based on non-engagement. Technically, you could use this list to re-enroll for new emails in Sequence, but you couldn’t automate that in the Sequence tool.
You could use that list in a Workflow to enroll in a sequence from the Workflow tool, as noted below:

I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this due to its complexity – but I wanted to show what is possible if helpful.
Hope this helps.

Hello, guys. Thank you so much for your responses.
I eventually did found out a way to work around unaswered e-mails.
The solution came from workflow: Used the branch property, if they not open the e-mail, it will trigger another e-mail to be sent with a more engaging subject.
Thank you for your time.
