We are hosting our Hubspot blog via Hubspot CMS separate from our actual site on a subdomain.
I am trying to create a custom header from my own HTML to be consistent with the header at our actual site.
For some reason, it is not letting me include HTML in the custom header (Setting > Website > Pages > Select Blog Subdomain from Dropdown > Custom Header). I know that in HTML you cannot have a <div> (for example) in the <head> tag---but the tag is advertised as a <header> tag, in which you can have all sorts of HTML tags.
Long story short, I am getting a strange error whenever I try to include a div, p, or h1 tag (for example) in my Hubspot custom header. It does work fine for the footer, which is odd. Maybe there is a unique Hubl tag I need flanking the header HTML? I don’t know, there are not many helpful resources out there for this issue.
@PatOfCle, happy to help with your question, the “Custom Header” settings you’ve called out is the Site Header HTML, which adds to the <head> tag and why you can’t add HTML the way you’re trying to do.
2 - rather than customizing the header and footer style via these settings, you could clone the header and footer modules from the theme you’re using and customize as much as needed.
The easiest way to do this is to create a child theme, then clone the necessary header/footer files to overwrite the parent theme.
If you have a fully custom theme, you wouldn’t need to do this and should be able to modify the code directly (this applies to HubSpot or Marketplace themes).
Once you have the child theme and custom header/footer, you’d need to verify your theme settings are properly configured to match your current settings, then all you have to do is swap the templates from the original theme to the child theme for both blog listing and blog post templates.
