UTM Parameters - HubSpot native vs. Tracking sheet

Our company currently uses the built-in UTM tracking parameters with HubSpot that adds medium/source/campaign automatically.

However, when I go into GA and compare traffic by medium (email for example) – the traffic is slightly higher for GA vs. what’s showing in HubSpot.

In previous roles, I used a Google sheet to populate UTM links for tracking in GA.

Would love to hear what other teams are doing in order to most accurately track their traffic. I’m leaning towards going back to using a Google Sheet.

Hey @JHayes2, thank you for posting in our Community!

The discrepancy is likely due to differences in attribution, session handling, or bot filtering between HubSpot and GA.

If accuracy in GA is your priority, going back to a manual UTM sheet could be a good approach.

To our top experts, @TomM2 and @Brenner any recommendations for @JHayes2 matter?

Kindly,

Pam

Hi, @JHayes2 !

Hope my message finds you well

Unfortunately, you can see the difference between GA and HubSpot analytics.

In my opinion, wWhat you need to think is:

> You can set up the right parameters for tracking your web traffic in HubSpot (in this case, you should follow this article) - click here

> You can keep the same UTM parameters for tracking with GA. In this case, you can create a custom report in GA and add this report as a external content on a HubSpot Dashboard.
