Undo bulk edit

I have created a custom property/field called category. In here, I have several descriptive types of the business that companies conduct. A company can and often do check several of these types.

The list of type of business became large, and I discovered after an import that 4 of the types where similar and I wanted to do a cleanup.

So I did a bulk edit, and within a second I realized that for each company, (that previously checked a variety of types of business), now they were only listed with one!

Any way I can restore the data? (I did the action first thing this morning, so everything up till yesterday should be ok)

I find it weird that bulk edit, instead of adding a type in the category field, instead deleted all present various types and set 1 new value for all of them.

Hi @Happiness_is_ai,

Are you referring to a multiple checkboxes property? I’d agree, they don’t behave intuitively. The default action is replacing, not appending values.

@jleow has written a great tutorial on revering bulk property changes here: https://community.hubspot.com/t5/Tips-Tricks-Best-Practices/Reverting-Bulk-Property-Changes-by-Importing-Historical-Property/td-p/332929

Hope this helps!

Exactly, multiple checkboxes property. Followed your tip, thank you. Glad that there is some sort of workaround, although not a quick fix.

Lesson learned, I will be more careful in the future.

The info here was very helpful to me and helped me ssolve a problem. Thanks!

Hi @Happiness_is_ai,

Good news, HubSpot has released a dedicated feature for this now :slightly_smiling_face: HubSpot Login and Sign in

Restore CRM Properties and Records

What is it?

Seamlessly Restore CRM Data automatically captures the last 20 versions of your CRM data (45 for contacts), so that you can undo any changes in the last 14 days.

Why does it matter?

You need to protect your data integrity and quickly fix mistakes. Without this feature, reverting unwanted changes is time-consuming and requires property history exports and imports.

Now you can:

  • Quickly identify and restore recent property changes
  • Maintain data accuracy without leaving HubSpot
  • Reduce downtime and improve efficiency in managing your CRM data

How does it work?

Two entry points as a super admin:

  1. Settings > Data Management > Backup and Restore OR CRM > Actions > Restore Property Edits
  2. Filter by source, property type, and date (within the last 7 days)
  3. Review the changes you want to restore in a preview
  4. Click Restore to apply the changes

Note: This action overwrites current values with previous ones but doesn’t remove edit history. Restored records won’t re-enroll in workflows or lists except for initial enrollment.

Who gets it?

This feature is available for HubSpot Enterprise customers.
