Tracking Interaction and Sales

Hi,

We are testing HubSpot’s CRM for our business and would like to know what would be the best way to use it to track our sales team commissions.

Since we would be compensating our sales team with a sales commission based on their client interactions (e.g., email, calls, meetings, etc.) and eventual subscription sale, what would be the best way to use HubSpot to track both of these to know how much he/she should be remunerated?

We already understand using Chrome’s extension to allow incoming and outgoing emails CRM absorption. Since the sales manager would also need to make the sale after these interactions in order to get compensated, what would be the best way to easily and quickly monitor both of these to create a count monthly or quarterly?

Would having them manually open a Deal to first set it as ‘email/call’ and then later update it to ‘sold’ once paid?

Since the sales managers would know the sold date from the CRM based on a Membership date property created, what would be the best way to track and compensate them monthly or quarterly only on the ones they have interacted with?

Thanks!

Best,

Howard

Hi @howardmarxb, there’s several ways that this could be done depending on how your commission structure works.

Some ways we’ve built out in the past:
- Custom properties to capture the responsible salesperson as a contact and deal move through the pipeline. Something like: if you have a setter who owns a contact when it comes in as a lead, we create a custom property that copies the contact owner to a “Setter” property. Then if a closer owns the contact after the follow-up meeting is set, the contact owner is copied to a “Closer” property after the contact moves to the next lifecycle stage.

- Another way is to create a custom report that utilizes activities, the person responsible for the activity, and the associated deal properties (like closed won revenue).

Let me know if either of these make sense and would be happy to go into more detail on something that fits what you’re looking for.
