Sales Commission Set-up

Where & How do i set-up commission plan & track them by setting-up auto-update dashboard in hubspot?

@mariselvi - How do you calculate sales commissions? I’d advice looking into creating a custom calculation property on the deal object to calculate sales commission per deal. Additionally a dropdown property could stamp the commission status on each deal - unpaid, paid etc.
These can then be used on a reporting dashboard to track commissions.

Thanks, I can do that way. But I want to solve this. Can you help me. When first invoice created for any won deal is marked as paid, I will be paying only 50% of the commission amount. Remaining 50% will be paid only when the projects gets half way in their milestones. (Say its 10 invoices totally, remaining amount will be paid only when 5th invoice is being marked as paid).

How would i solve this? @HFisher7 @Lucila-Andimol

Hi @mariselvi

You can have a calculated property that take the value from your closed won deals and aplicates the right percentage. Then you can have a custom report showing the amount of commisions calculated for a specific period of time or associate with a specific owner/sales rep.

If you need a more advance type of calculations we usually solve this with Operations Hub

e.g. when the percentage is scaled or changes depending on the product or is variable depending on the sales rep or is shared between several sales rep.

hope this helps

I think HubSpot can handle parts of this with custom calculation properties and workflows, especially for flat commission rates.

Where it gets difficult is exactly what you mentioned: accelerators based on a rep’s total closed amount for the year, and cases where a single deal may fall across two commission tiers. That can become hard to maintain with basic calculated properties alone.

You may want to check out PayClarity. It is a commission management tool built for HubSpot and is designed to handle commission rules like tiered accelerators without having to rebuild everything through custom properties, spreadsheets, or Operations Hub.

The practical benefit is that HubSpot can stay as the source of truth for deals and reps, while PayClarity handles the commission logic, rule tracking, and payout visibility.

Might be worth testing before trying to force the full accelerator logic inside HubSpot manually.
