Having a problem with the tracking where I will get the alert that the recipient has “opened” the tracked email when in fact I am the one who had just clicked on the email in Outlook. Is anyone else having this problem and is there a solution?
Hi @DBGConstruction,
The tracking of one-to-one emails isn’t always super accurate. It simply uses a tracking pixel to load. If the system can’t identify the contact it will notify you that it was opened merely based on the fact that that pixel loaded.
Here’s an article that explains email tracking a bit more in-depth.
In general, the tracking is helpful as long as you keep in mind that it’s not always 100%. If you’re only sending to one other person it’s easier to make assumptions on what happens. It’s particularly challenging sending to a group or understanding if the individual forwarded your email and it was opened.

Thanks for the help here and linked document Josh. I have the same problem as DBG though and it causes me a problem. Is there no way at all to prevent Hubspot from saying an email has been opened when it has been opened (or in fact just viewed in the outlook list of emails) by the sender? Could that be worked on at Hubspot?
