Take my upvote, great idea! I need that.

need this too!
Hey team! I completely agree that this is important for workflow efficiency - I’d love to see the ability to change the default task due time!
Plus one here.
Looking to do that too
I want this!
So dearly needed!
Please please please prioritise - this would help greatly in work flow efficiency
If I set a task for myself without specifying the due time, the system seems to assume that it is due at 12:00 AM that day. I suggest that the task be considered due by end of day, not the first second of that day. No one sets a task to be due tomorrow and expects to have it done by 12:00 AM.
This impacts our user experience two ways:
- I like to start knocking out activities by first tackling any “Overdue” tasks. However, these tasks that are assumed to be due at 12:00 AM are polluting my view of my ACTUAL overdue tasks.
- The “Next Activity Date” property on the Contact record shows as “Unknown” if the next activity record is overdue. I want to use this property as a filter for a Contact list view to show me Contacts that are “In Progress” but are missing open tasks/activities to remind me to FUP. However, it is also pulling in Contacts that DO have an open tasks, but are simply overdue.
The only workaround seems to be to set a due time for literally every task/reminder that I set, which is not an ideal user experience. Simply changing the assumed due time to be 11:59 PM will solve this.
Hi @uncledoodah While I can certainly understand your use case here, our expreince shows that most users will set a task date and time. The system needs a time/date stamp to determine when a task is overdue, so it is impossible to clear that factor out.
A good workaround would be to have the ability to set a default time for all tasks (ie: 6am the next day) as an option.
I’m going to move this to our ideas forum for futher comment.
Thank you,
Ed Justen
Ed,
Thanks for the information, and I understand that the system needs a timestamp for detecting overdue tasks.
But for users like me who prefer to just set the date and avoid the added step of choosing a time, wouldn’t it make sense for the system to simply assume a PM timestamp rather than AM?
Regardless of there being a way to set your own default time, 5pm is a ridiculous default. Who wants to be reminded of the tasks they were supposed to do that day just before they’re about to go home? Unless you start work 5pm this makes no business sense.
8am was far better than 5pm.
Very bizarre and counterintuitive. Like RPD said, why would I want a barrage of tasks hitting me at the end of the day as I am preparing to go home? The 8 am time allowed me to work through my tasks as the day wore on.
Additionally, why can’t we set our own default time for tasks to be scheduled in the settings?
This has been buging our team as well - default 17:00 makes “3 business days” effectively 4 days.
The task default due date time was set to 8:00am however recently switched to 5:00pm. This is for the reminder of the task to be sent out, in today’s world sales reps are working fast and not focused on the reminder time so when setting up their follow up tasks and other activities for their task queue they run into issues with completing them on time as the reminders are coming at 5pm when they are leaving for the day.
please allow for it to be a controlled feature where we can preset it to what we want, or revert back to 8am.
this change is all back to front, the default needs to be in the morning so at least if you forget to set a time for your task it pops into your inbox first thing (popping into your inbox when you’re heading home is crazy!). ability for users to set there default time on tasks wold be a great feature
This does need to be fixed. Wasn’t the default previously the current time?
Sorry to hear about the frustration. One thing I wanted to clarify, it seems there’s been a little confusion between what the due date and the reminder date are doing.
For the comment “Who wants to be reminded of the tasks they were supposed to do that day just before they’re about to go home”
The reminder date/time is separate from the due date/time. For example, by default the task is set to be due at 5pm, and the reminder to be sent at 8am. In this case, you would be reminded at 8am, not 5pm.
The idea behind setting the default due date to 5pm was that you give yourself until the typical end of business day before that task is considered overdue. If the time was set to say 8am, as soon as the start of business, your task would be in red and considered overdue.
At any rate, we’ve been getting similar feedback from customers in other channels, and we are going to change the default time from 5pm to 8am.
As to having the ability to set a default time, this is something our team can look into.
Thanks for bringing up your feedback.
There other requests for changing the default time for tasks. This because different businesses consider different times to be optimal for reminders. Some businesses want the defailt time to be 8 am, others want 10 am and others want 5 pm.
The main issue is that Hubspot doesnt give the users the option to choose themselves.
My request is that Hubspot gives each user te option to choose their own default times.
