Stripe integration in TEST mode

Hi everyone!! I’m newbie here, so please bear with me if I ask silly questions :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

It’s about this Hubspot integration: HubSpot Marketplace

When I connect with my Stripe Account, it happens always in LIVE mode, even being logged in a Hubspot Developer Account.

Perhaps I’m missing something very trivial, so sorry if so.. but Is there any way to sync/connect/test it with Stripe in TEST mode?

Thanks team!! any help will be very appreciate!

Javier.

Hi @JavierMoral,

Great question, thank you for posting!

Do you mean that you’d like to test the Stripe Data Sync integration to see if your customer information is syncing correctly between the HubSpot & the Stripe apps?

You’d usually see any sync errors that might occur during the review stage of the sync setup (more information here), but I’ve also seen customers use a Sandbox account to test the sync (available in Enterprise-level subscriptions).

Hi @GreyHamilton, @Bryantworks, @louischausse, do you have any other ideas about how @JavierMoral could test his Stripe sync? Thank you!

Cheers

Hi again MiaSrebrnjak :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: , yes , it works in Stripe LIVE mode, but I’m looking for a way to sync in TEST mode too.

I know that a Sandbox Account could be a work around but I’m testing APP’s in order to see if they are suitable to our customers and I don’t have an Enterprise-level subscription :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m using a Developer Account , and it’s curious this APP HubSpot Marketplace sync in TEST mode automaticaly, but HubSpot Marketplace doesn’t. So.. from the testing point of view, I have one working in LIVE and the another in TEST mode , and it’s difficult, you know?

Thanks!!

Hi Javier,

It is not possible to go directly from HubSpot to Stripe’s test mode. This is because Stripe provides two different APIs here. You cannot solve this with Zapier either because Zapier also does not support the test API. The only solution I have found so far where you can enter the test api is make.com

I am trying to sync my contacts from Stripe to HubSpot.

I installed the Stripe Data Sync app. I followed all the steps correctly, yet no contacts have come over. I uninstalled and reinstalled many times with no luck. I am not getting any errors.

Hi @Scoaches,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community!

Let’s consult some of our experts to see if they have any suggestions on why this might be happening and how to solve it.

Hi @danmoyle, @TomM2 - do you have any advice for @Scoaches, regarding the Stripe sync? Thank you!

Best,

Diana

Hi @Scoaches and welcome to the Community. Thanks for the tag @DianaGomez.

My first question, as silly as it may seem, is: Are you positive new contacts are active? Do you see folks using Stripe but you don’t see them in HubSpot when you search for them? Or is it historical contacts you’re not seeing?

When you connect Stripe to HubSpot, there should be a step to bring in histprical data via a sync, then ongoing data transfer should happen after that. Are you not experiencing that?

I’ve seen not-so-great reviews of the integration, so I’ve also seen users tap into Zapier, which allows you to build a fairly simple connection.

Depending on the level of functionality you need/want - I’ve also noticed some folks say Zaybra is a big help. That partner built the app after running into similar issues with our quote to cash and revenue reporting inside of HubSpot. That may be an option.

Hope that helps!

Also looking for this solution so we can test whether the data sync integration ticks the box for the business.

It seems that HubSpot Sandbox will only connect to the admin account in Stripe, regardless of whether its in test mode or not, it will only pull through the live data.

Hey @danmoyle ! Thanks so much for the response. I don’t know how to tell if my stripe contacts are “active.” These are not clients I manually entered but clients who purchased a product from my website. Once they purchase they automatically get entered in stripe, from there I would like them to automatically sync with hubspot. Maybe I need to do something manually in stripe to make them “active” customers?

@danmoyle

@Scoaches that’s what I was thinking of as active - that they’d made a purchase that would then push new information into the CRM after you connected it. So, actively purchasing, not historical contacts that were already in Stripe.

It sounds like everything is connected, and maybe it’s an integration shortcoming. Perhaps someone else has an idea.
