Spell Check Issues

Anyone else have an issue where they cannot use the browser spellcheck to update words? It shows that there is an error and it will give you the option to update it if you right-click the word, but clicking on the correctly spelled word does nothing… Can click it several times and it will not work, almost seems like it waits a certain amount of time before it will allow it to be updated. Tried on multiple different browsers on different devices but the result is the same. Driving me CRAZY!!!

Hey @Jetstar77,
Thanks for posting in the Community!
Can you confirm:
-What browser you’re using
-Whether or not this issue is occuring in an incognito window of your browser
-Whether any other users in your portal experiencing the same issue
It sounds like this may be a browser issue, not something that’s occuring within HubSpot specifically. But I’d like to look for any similar posts with more context.

Unfortunately no, as mentioned in the last part of my message, I have tired on multiple different browsers and it made no difference, I use the same method in Word, notpad etc and everything works fine, when I come to Hubspot however the words to not update. Even in my browser on pages other than hubspot its fine, only in Hubspot is this an issue. I am now having to spend 3 times as long checking my replies just to make sure that things have updated. I can replicate this issue in every single ticket that I handle. Usually it takes between 5 and 6 clicks\tries before it will register that I am actually clicking.

Hey @Jetstar77,
Thank you for following up here!
To clarify, I was inquiring about the incognito versions of these different browsers, as this would disable all previous cache and cookies associated with each browser. I was also looking to see if this was impacting any other user(s) in your portal to better understand if this is a portal-wide issue, or just a single-user issue.
Either way, I’m happy to tag in some Community experts here to see if they have any insight to add. @danmoyle, @Josh, and @TomM2 - any context that would explain this behavior?

Hi Hi, so after doing some more testing on incognito and other browsers they all have the same issue. Totally hopless. ALL other pages and programs can spell check fine, the only site that has an issue is Hubspot. Makes my replies very unprofessional if I miss that one word hasnt updated and send it out. Making me super paranoid that I am going to miss one. Even if I use my keyboard to select the correct word and then press enter to update it STILL doesnt update the word, almost as if its just ignoring my selection (I did this just to make sure it wasnt me clicking the wrong spot).

I have now tried the incogneto browser session and have the same issue. Driving me mad!!

Hey @Jetstar77,

I came across this Community post, which expands on this conversation a bit by clarifying that while HubSpot does not have a dedicated spellcheck tool, the system is designed to inherit the spell-checking capabilities of the browser that you are utilizing.
Can you please try this in Chrome by following these steps to ensure that spell check is on?

Hi Stierney

Yes as mentioned in my initial post I have tried ALL major browsers (chrome, Firefox, edge) and the issue is still present. I suspect that it is Hubspots in built AI that is causing this issue as when the issue happens the AI star is next to the word that I want to update.

Thanks for the tag @STierney. And welcome to the Community @Jetstar77. This isn’t an issue I’ve personally dealt with, no. In a bit of research I do see that it’s often a browswer issue as Shane mentioned. The best-sounding reliable workaround I found is to type the correction manually or use a writing extension that is known to work in HubSpot, rather than relying on native right-click replacement. I wish I had a better answer!

Hello all.

I have found a fix! For Edge at least, I went into the settings and changed:

Settings > Languages > Writing Assistance > Use Grammar and spell-check assistance > and enable Microsoft Editor.

Mine was set to Basic and this seems to be the cause of the issue on Edge. I did also have this issue on Chrome and Firefox so I suspect there might be something similar to update in those browsers as well but for now I am so happy that my spell check updates actually work now!!!
@danmoyle @STierney

@Jetstar77 this is fantastic news! I’m glad you shared so others can find help when they hit this SNAFU. Cheers!

I have this too for that past month or so. I use Arc browser which is chromeium. HS is the only website right click spellcheck does not work on. I click the correct word and it does nothing.
At this point i’ve just given up on spelling correctly in HS which is annoying.
Hope this can be fixed. 99.9% sure this was not always the case and 99% this is hubspot not the browser as spellcheck works on every other website.

Hi Jared

YES its so frustrating!!! Is your issue similar to mine where it wont update the word but does identify that it is spelled wrong?

Regards

Yup exactly

Ah great, I need to play around with Arc browser a bit but my recomendation for your sanity is to use Edge instead and follow the steps for my fix. Cringy I know. I suspect that the Hubspot AI is at fault here and its somehow interfearing with the spellcheck word update. Will let you know how my testing goes.
