Slack + Hubspot connection

I am trying to connect my slack+hubspot instance- unfortunately the user mapping link keeps sending me to the Hubspot notification settings page. I have received an email to map by HS email to my slack user but no matter what, when I click the button it brings me to notifications- I believe this could be some sort of glitch. I have even tried turning on all notification settings and it still isn’t changing anything.

Hey @Margarida2600,

Thanks for posting in the Community!

I’ve opened our knowledge base article on connecting HubSpot and Slack, and I’d like to point out the required permissions to connect the two:

"You must be a Super Admin or have App Marketplace permissions in your HubSpot account.

You must also be an administrator for the Slack workspace you want to install the integration for. If you’re not a Slack administrator, you’ll need to contact your Slack administrator to give you access."

Can you please confirm that you meet these requirements, both within HubSpot and Slack?

Landing on Notification settings from the Slack mapping email is a known confusing path. It usually means the mapping deep link never bound to an active Slack install + HubSpot session, so HubSpot falls back to the notifications page instead of the user-map screen.

Try this order:

  1. Install / open Slack from inside HubSpot first (do not start from the email). Settings → Integrations → Connected Apps → Slack (wording varies slightly by portal). Confirm Slack shows as connected to the correct HubSpot account. If it is not connected, connect it here before touching the email again.

  2. Map users from the Slack integration screen, not from the inbox email. On the Slack app settings page, open user mapping / manage users and map your HubSpot user to your Slack member explicitly. The email is a nudge; the settings page is the source of truth.

  3. Session match. Before clicking any email button, sign into HubSpot in that browser on the same portal you installed Slack against. Then open the email link in the same browser profile. A second Google/HubSpot account in the session is a common reason the link dumps you on a generic notifications page.

  4. Permissions. You need rights to manage the Slack integration (usually Super Admin or the user who installed the app). If a teammate installed Slack, ask them to map you, or reinstall with an admin who will own the connection.

  5. Slack-side check. In Slack, confirm the HubSpot app is present in the workspace and you are a member of that workspace (not only a guest). Then retry mapping from HubSpot.

  6. If it still bounces to Notifications: disconnect Slack in HubSpot, reinstall, complete OAuth, then map users immediately from the integration page. Skip the old email (it may point at a stale install token). If a fresh install still cannot open mapping, grab screenshots of (a) Slack connected-apps page, (b) the redirect URL you land on, and open a HubSpot support/chat ticket with portal id.

Turning every notification toggle on will not fix mapping. Notifications and Slack user identity are different ownership surfaces.

If you can note your HubSpot plan (Free/Starter/Pro) and whether Slack shows as Connected under Integrations, the next step is either map from the app page or reinstall as admin.

Hey @Margarida2600 ,

Yeah, I can see why this is frustrating - toggling every notification setting and still getting nowhere is not a fun time. But I think I can save you some headache here.

So here’s the thing - that “View in HubSpot” button landing you on what looks like a notification settings page? That’s actually supposed to happen. HubSpot takes you to the Integrations settings tab for the specific notification type that couldn’t reach Slack. So you’re technically in the right place. The real issue is that a dialog box should be popping up on that page asking you to enter your Slack email so you can verify and complete the mapping. If that dialog isn’t showing up, that’s where the issue seems to be - not the redirect itself.

A few things I’d try:

First, open HubSpot in an incognito window or a completely different browser. Browser extensions or cached sessions can sometimes prevent dialogs like this from loading properly.

Also double-check that you’re logged into the right HubSpot portal when you click the link - especially if you’ve got access to more than one. The mapping dialog may not appear if you’re in a different portal.

One more thing worth checking - if your HubSpot email and Slack email are actually the same already, HubSpot should be able to associate the accounts automatically, so you wouldn’t need to map them manually. The mapping email may have been triggered before the emails matched.

If none of that works, I’d reach out to HubSpot Support at that point. Let them know that the mapping dialog isn’t appearing on the Integrations settings page, and include a screenshot of what you’re seeing when you click the button. They should be able to check whether there’s an issue with the user association on their side.

And just so you know - getting the user mapping completed is important if you need HubSpot to recognize you as a specific Slack user for user-level notifications or Slack workflow actions.

Hope that helps - let me know if you get it working!

Hi! I am in the slack app page but don’t see the ability to map users here? Honestly I created my own custom MCP and that worked but this issue is still annoying LOL
