The documents function is really great in terms of handling heavy design documents. However, when sharing externally and opened on a mobile it does not function seamlessly. A user on this forum said it best: “The visibility of a PDF on mobile is web-style, which means it looks HORRIBLE on that device. Unusable. On PC it is better, but EVERYONE uses mobile for everything and it is practically unusable on mobile. It needs to adapt much better.”
Is Hubspot looking into this at all?
Hey @carolyntso, I’ve hit exactly this. The tracked document link looks fine on desktop, but on a phone you’re pinching and scrolling sideways just to read one page, which isn’t great when that’s how most people open it.
What’s worked for me for now: when i know someone will open it on mobile, I also send the direct file link from the File Manager. Phones open it in their own PDF viewer, so it reads normally. You lose the view tracking on that copy, so I keep the tracked Documents link as the main one. Exporting the PDF in a single-column or slide-style layout also helps a lot on smaller screens.
I couldn’t find any beta or roadmap item for a mobile-optimised viewer yet. The idea is open on the Ideas forum, and upvoting it there is what gets it in front of the product team: Sales Documents not optimized for Mobile View - HubSpot Ideas - HubSpot Community
Hope this helps!
