Setting Billing Contact Status

I have a scenario where I have a custom object in practise lives underneath Companies, called Departments. Our sales process is to these individual departments and it is important that we know the billing contact and can annotate it for each.

However, a user can be a linked n number of departments and could be a billing contact for n number of that again. The goal for this is to allow the team quickly reach out the relevant contact when needed and potentially do some marketing and deal creation with those contacts as the primary contact.
My current thought is to set up an association label up to indicate billing contact but I am trying to think through issues with this approach in terms of workflows, messaging, etc. Much appreciate alternative approaches that may work as well.

Hi @AJacob2, I hope that you are well!
I love to see this question in the Community, thanks for posting!
So, you’d like to have a contact status on the contact level (not on the custom object level). And one contact can be associated with different departments. Please correct me if that’s not the case.
The association label is a good starting point and a great idea!
I’d be happy to put you in touch with some of our Top Experts to see what their thoughts on this are:
Hi @Jnix284, @danmoyle and @Bryantworks can you think of another way to achieve this and help @AJacob2, please?

Also, if anybody else has anything to add and/or share, please feel free to join in the conversation :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you for your help :glowing_star: and have a lovely day!
Best,

I’m with @BérangèreL here, @AJacob2. I agree that your assessment of association labels is probably the best route. You can make ists of association labels and fire off workflows, and these labels can help you see who someone is at a glance, like Billing Contact or Department Head.
