Am I missing something? Trying to send a sequence that is timed up with an event and there isn’t an option to have it delay until a certain day? How can I do this? This is basic capability so would be surprising if it wasn’t avaialble?

You should be able to set a delay on Sequences, as noted here! Are you able to provide screenshots of the sequence settings if you don’t see this option? That’ll help determine best next steps!

You’re not missing anything, this is not possible, at least not directly. Sequences are meant to elicit a response in sales outreach, not to manage communication around an event. While there are use cases that require both (yours, apparently), it hasn’t been a priority for HubSpot.

As far as workarounds go, the common solution to your conundrum would be using a contact-based workflow with automated marketing emails instead: Send automated emails in workflows
In workflows, you have full flexibility to delay until dates.
If it must be sequences, then you could include a task that pauses the sequence – and which you complete on the same day, resulting in the next email being sent on a specific date.
Alternatively, you can delay enrollment into entire sequences using workflow delays, if you have a Sales or Service Hub Enterprise subscription: Enroll and unenroll contacts in sequences using workflows
In summary, however, the workflow tool is best suited and typically used for sending automated emails around events.
