Recover deleted form

I deleted a form by accident instead of cloning it. Is there a way to recover it?

Hey @Melinda,

Unfortunately, this isn’t currently possible. A few other things to note with deleted forms:

Before deleting a HubSpot form, take note of the following implications:

  • The form will no longer load on any live external pages.
  • The form will not be available for use in lists, workflows, and reports.
  • Previous submission data cannot be exported, but will remain in the relevant contact records.
  • New submissions to a deleted form using the HubSpot’s Forms API will not be accepted.

Hello, @Bryantworks

Still not possible?

Actually it is possible, just not in the UI and needs a bit of tech-know-how and the ID of the deleted form.
You can do a GET API request via Postman to the respective endpoint and just need to add “archived=true” in the request URL:

https://api.hubapi.com/marketing/v3/forms/{form_id}?hapikey={your_api_key}&archived=true

The response body will give you the complete form definition. This you just need to copy/paste into a PUT request to create a new form, add name and createdAt to the body and you’ll have a copy of it in your UI.
You still need to replace every form ID / embed code of the old form, but at least you don’t have to recreate everything, especially for more complex forms.

Hi @FloGruetzner hope you are doing well!

Thanks or sharing :slightly_smiling_face:

Diana

Hi @GeorgeMat unfortunately this is still not possible at the moment. The best practice would be to not delete the forms. Instead you can create a forms folder “Archive” and move your old forms to this folder. Additionally you can change the internal name to something like “Do not use”. If you accidentally delete a form then the HubSpot support might be able to restore the form for you, this was the case when I accidentally deleted a form. :slightly_smiling_face:

I accidently deleted an important form today; a significant form. I was trying to bulk delete spam entries. The ability to recover a form would be significant help in this instance.

Hi @davefaloon,
Unfortunately, this isn’t currently possible.

Best regards!

@FloGruetzner is right! deleted forms are not really gone. HubSpot returns the full form data through the API with ?archived=true, so technically you can rebuild them.

I used this exact mechanism in a tool I’m building called “FormRecall”.

It automatically creates a Deleted Forms Vault for your portal and shows all archived forms with their full data — even forms that were deleted before you connected FormRecall. From there you can recreate the form in one click.

One important limitation: HubSpot doesn’t let you actually “unarchive” a form, so the restored form gets a new GUID. FormRecall gives you a checklist of what needs to be reconnected, like embeds and workflows.

For active forms it works differently — FormRecall saves a snapshot every minute, keeps the full version history, and lets you roll back without changing the GUID.

I’m currently looking for people to test it in real HubSpot portals and tell me what works, what’s missing, or what could be better.
